No Obama is not a religious following.

The post was for "thewatcher" who started this thread. He was getting discouraged last week that there might be a surprise upset for Obama and I am just checking in with him to see that he has not lost faith.

Did that answer you question?

As far as the fly over states not taking it anymore is'nt our current president from a fly over state? Seems to me they have had the power.

Steve actually started this thread and named Watcher in the subject line.

Anyway, from what I see and hear, many Obama supporters are looking at him as if he is the Second Coming so it doesn't surprise me at all when people start using words usually reserved for religious matters when they refer to Obama.

quick share, DH and i were at a dinner party sat night...predominantly republican - actually there were only 2 liberals in a 6 couple party. all are voting for obama, they don't see him as a messiah - but a hope for healing and leadership. the age range was 60-27, jews/catholics/muslims/christians, all professionals - i was happily shocked. i've been a bit annoyed with the multitude of posts that suggest those voting for obama are unintelligent.....that in of itself is ignorant...

No one can believe that Obama is best for the job, we have to be drinking the kol aide, not informed, not educated and looking for a hand out. After 8 long years thats all they have left.

Luluc, there are intelligent and ignorant people voting for both Obama and McCain. I wasn't trying to imply people voting for Obama are unintelligent, I meant exactly what I said, which is that many Obama supporters seem to respond to him as if he's the next hero who will rescue them and all their loved ones from the jaws of poverty itself.

i replied to your post, but didn't mean to insinuate my whole post directly to you.

but what "if" someone thinks obama can rescue them from poverty or view him as a hero??? how does that really impact those who oppose or think differently? they get to vote too.

I think it's just a compulsive habit of mine and probably many others as well to "straighten" people out on the facts. At least the facts I choose to acknowledge. :w00t:

There's no chance of unifying the country. Both sides are blatantly marginalizing and vilifying the other, and the climate gets worse every cycle. There's simply no middle ground left, and nobody who is willing to talk and compromise can make it past the primary system.

We're headed for a civil war, the only question is when it will happen. The "flyover" states won't put up with the domination by the coasts much longer.

Sadly, I agree. I wish it were not the case.

Humidity, mosquitoes, and large bugs.

Those are the reasons I ask myself WTF am I doing in Houston, TX? Humidity, mosquitos and large bugs aside, the living is pretty easy here. Great career opportunities, relatively low cost of living and the real esate bubble hasn't been nearly as bad here as it has in the rest of the country.

Don't you just love hijacking a thread and changing the subject? :w00t:

It affects those of us who oppose or think differently because it is OUR money he is going to hand out to "rescue them from poverty." It is not the government's job to rescue people from poverty or to "spread the wealth" (Obama's own words).

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. ~ Benjamin Franklin

That's the way it's supposed to be. Too bad the left has cheated in that area many times as well. Voting numerous times, dead people voting, signing up their dogs... One could only wonder what would REALLY happen if there were real safeguards. Doubt dems would ever win.

I always said that's why Kerry wanted so many recounts -- I would too if I knew my cronies had stuffed the ballot boxes all over the country and I STILL lost. :w00t:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
