Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Just checking in, had to update my signature because I finally MADE it to 20 pounds LOST! I am so excited I can't believe it! I was banded on 10/30 and had my first fill in Dec and haven't lost anything then all of a sudden it happened!

I still have my challenges, I still eat with my eyes instead of my common sense, so I do tend to spit up a couple of times / week but I am getting better. Kind of negative reinforcement...you shouldn't eat it but you do anyway then you spit up...sounds easy doesn't it? LOL guess i will just have to keep on keeping on.

Congrats to you all for doing such a great job! I come in and read the messages just to stay current and I am so happy for you all!

Take care and keep up the good work!

Great job Molly! In this beginning period it's been hard for me -- to not see the weight drop as I had hoped it would. I've lost 17 pounds since being banded but since my 2nd fill I've been losing steadily. My appetite is diminished and I feel full after that 2/3-1 cup of food. I feel really encouraged and and learning to use this band.

I think we all doing great! Go Smashing Pumpkins:thumbup:

Thanks Julianne...I had a ticker made. Then I could not find where to post the signature. I do not see that anywhere on this board. How to get into my own personal info. Now the darn ticker place isn't accepting the pin I gave them...:)

Go to the top of this page and click on user CP then go to edit signature, copy and paste it, preview it and you should be good to go. I know you have to enter the password twice for some reason.......

Looks like everyone is doing very good. Keep on being "lossers", that's a good word in our case.

My last Post-op Doc's appt. the Doc said I lost 6 lbs and that is good for one month, so I did not need another fill. Just these past 3 days I lost 3 lbs.; it realy suprized me.

I'm feel really good about that.

Thanks for the update, Molly Jo! That gives me hope yet!!

I got banded on 10/28, have only lost 4 lbs since then and and just got my 3rd fill this last Monday, 1/19 .

When you say that you got your fill in December then all of a sudden it just happend -- can you say what changed for you? .......Did that December fill kick in later, or were you doing things differently, or was it a slow loss from the December fill until now?

I've been eating less (but not as little as I thought I would!!) and going to Curves 3x a week with walking in-between that. Sheesh, I thought I'd be further along than this! :tt2:

...Sorry for all the ?s, but I really appreciate any feedback!! Rosie

Everyone is different in the way they lose. It's so strange. Before my 1st fill I only lost 3 lbs; than I lost 6 lbs the following month. A week after that I did not lose anything, than all of a sudden I lost 3 lbs in 3 days. I'm eating 1/3 to 1/2 of what I used to eat and staying full most of the time. I, so far can eat just about anything, healthy food that is, just a lot less of it; and it takes me at least 30 + minutes to do it. Just learn to lesson to what the band is telling you and you will do just fine.

I have been very down lately about my weight loss. Holidays did me in, I ended up gaining 2 lbs but really should have gained 10 the way I ate. I lost 3 last week so I am back on track now. I have lost a total of 20 1/2 lbs. I feel like I should have lost alot more than this by now. I got a fill Tuesday so I am doing alot better right now. How is everyone else doing?

Cheryl,

In 5 years it won't matter how fast we lost the weight. We will all be happy that we are healthy and happy. I know it gets frustrating. I have hit plateaus, but when the scale starts moving again those frustrations are left behing.

Keep at it. You are doing great! 1-2 lbs per week. You are more than on tract to lose 50# in one year so you are on the top part of the curve. 20lbs in 3 months means 80# in a year. That is great!

Hello Oct. Band. It has been a hard road. Im down to 200lbs cant wait to be onederland. Ive had some back issues so working out has been hard. I miss CARBS! But fitting into smaller sizes makes it all worth it. Ive had 3 fills about 7.2cc and am scheduled for another next month. Hunger is hitting me a lot. I hope this is the last fill for a while. With last one I started to start to feel full sooner. Ive lost more inches then I thought I would. It feels great.

Keep on Keepin on! Everyone.

I just realized Im half way to my goal. Yeah me! I hope I can make it by summer.

Good luck to you all. God Bless

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
