Dr. Davtyan graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 1989, and completed his surgical residency at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. He then went on to complete two fellowships in Surgical Oncology at UCLA 1990-1992 and at John Wayne Cancer Institute 1996-1997.
Dr. Davtyan started his private practice in 1997; he was the director of the Breast Centers at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and Century City Hospital. He introduced breast conserving surgery, sterotactic breast biopsy and Sentinel Lymph Node dissection in these centers. Dr. Davtyan also specialized in liver resection, cryoablation and radio frequency ablation for metastatic liver tumors.
Dr. Davtyan studied the LAP-BAND procedure in Brussels, Belgium where it was first introduced. He became one of the first surgeons in the United States to offer the LAP-BAND after FDA approval in 2001. Since then, Dr. Davtyan saved hundreds of patients & improved the lives of many more.
