Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Recommended Posts

Felicia, you sound just like me. I can do low carb easy as I'm not much into the breads etc. either. I get about 700-900 calories a day and my carbs are in veggies, etc. as well. I had great restriction last week after my first fill but it seems to be gone this week. We travelled today and I had a piece of pizza, I was hoping it wouldn't go down so well!! LOL It was only one piece though. I try to watch my Protein more than the calories though. I may get another fill next week or the week after.

:scared2: Hey everyone, I went to the doctor today and I am now down a total of 60lbs. That includes post op lbs. I also got a fill today (1cc) and I'm on Clear Liquids for two days  then mushies following the clear liquid diet.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_laugh.png" alt="" /> Doesn't it feel good to lose weight. I also joined a gym and my daughter and I have been working out faithfully everyday. It's good to see that everyone's doing great.

Ugh so last night I went to the movies and we snuck Snacks in (rebels!!) hehe. I brought a big bag of cheddar chex mix and ate like, half the bag while we were sitting there! I wasn't even that full afterwards! Tomorrow I go to the doctor and I'm going to ask for another fill. I got home this morning and weighed myself, I had been at a steady 197 all week and I was 197.5, laaame.

It's been a rough couple of weeks here too. We went on a mini vacation, and I made HORRIBLE choices. This week has been better, but not much. Think I need another fill too, cause can eat way too much. I stop myself (at times)!

I weigh in Tuesday, so will talk to the coordinator about then. At first after my fill, I had restriction. I do in the morning, but by afternoon, I could probably eat a horse!

I too was vacationing lately...Made horrible choices for the most part. Didnt do mydailyplate as much as normal. I was shocked to find that I still managed to lose a pound last week. I was previously 50 lbs heavier than my hubby but now am only 4 lbs heavier!!! Cant wait to weigh less than him. He is 6'1" and I am 5'8". Hope everyone is well. Still waiting for my first fill . See the surgeon again tomorrow but I doubt I will get a fill as I still have some sort of rash around the port area after recovering from wound infection there.

I went to the doctors today and apparently I am down 8 pounds from my last visit exactly 2 weeks before! SO even though I've didn't really think I had been eating that well lately, he didn't think I needed another fill and told me to wait for our next visit 3 weeks from now for my 2nd fill. Yay I'm so pumped! Although the doctors scale is always like, 2 pounds less than my electronic one... hmmm...

I went for my second fill yesterday and only lost six pounds between fills. I was soooo disappointed. I've done everything correctly and have been absolutely starving every minute of the day. Hopefully I'll find a little restriction with this second fill. Sounds like everyone is pretty much melting away - which is great! Anyone else have a weightloss stall this soon after surgery??

AnneV: I have had a 2 week weight loss stall however I continue to make bad food choices and have not been exercising at all. I am scheduled for a 2nd fill on 9/9. I am really trying to get motivated and move! If you are doing everything correctly & staying on track my guess is you'll experience a large weight loss when your body is ready to let it go!

I went for my 2nd fill yesterday and I lost 7 lbs since my first fill!!! WOOHOO!! 1st fill was only 2 weeks ago! I just got a tweak she called it of .5cc's since I was losing good but starting to get hungrier and able to eat more. I'm not noticing much difference though in the 'tweak'.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
