Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Recommended Posts

Okay so tell me everyone.... I am seeing some fantastic weight loss on here and I'm wondering if you are including your preop weight loss?? I am 6 weeks post op today with one fill and have only lost 16lbs.... seeing all your great numbers leaves me alittle discouraged.

But congrats to everyone on these great numbers I'm seeing!!!!

Paige: I'm thinking that it includes pre-op also. Also, I think that the more weight that needs to be lost, the initial loss will be quicker. I had no pre-op requirements and since May 1st I am down 22lbs...that's 10 weeks. 2.2lbs per week is very good in my opinion. Of course I would love to see it come off faster, but this rate is the safest way to go and the BEST news is that I am not done by a long shot!!!

Keep up the GREAT work and only compare yourself to YOU!!!

All the best

mine includes pre-op weight loss. i was weighing my highest last november and that's when i knew i was going to have wls. so i tried to get a little jump start. i've lost 20lbs since surgery day, but let me tell you, its been hard. the scale and i are battling each other!!! but, i haven't had a fill as of yet, which i really need. but who know's maybe that ONE fill won't even do the trick. i know on average it takes 2-3 fills to hit your sweet spot.

you're probably just on a plateau right now. you'll start dropping soon enough:wink2:

Some people do split it up, but actually, why do that? It's all part of the same process and it's where you end up that matters anyway.

ALSO, the variation between pre-op protocol is huge, with some people having 3 weeks or liquid pre-op and others, like me, only having a day or liquids and the wonderful clean-out with our liquid period after the surgery.

So, the only way to look at everyone equally, and why would anyone want to do that, would be total weight loss overall. But we're all so different, and lose differently and are different ages, hormone levels etc. And we all start from a different weight. So, it's all very individual.

Good luck with your loss.

For me I lost very little to no weight on my pre-op diet so I started my weight loss total from the morning I got on the scale in the pre-op room! That was the start of my new life!

If you read my earlier post, I lost 18 pounds in 7 weeks which is about where you are and my doctor was pleased with that. Remember it didn't take us overnight to gain this weight so it won't be overnight that we lose it either! I didn't lose the additional 8-10 pounds over the last few weeks until I added some hard core exercise!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited...I hit my halfway point today. I was banded 5/19. I still have an open wound so I have not been able to vigorously excersise yet. If wound looks okay on Tuesday, I will have my first fill...I love my band!!

I just hit 40!!! That includes 10 lbs I lost since deciding to be banded and going through the research phase, seminars, etc. 30 since my first visit with surgeon (no preop diet).

OOPS, just realized I posted in May. I considered myself a Mayflower for the longest time, til my surgery got changed from May 29th to June 5th. But I've continued reading here as you guys were a few weeks ahead in the process than me. So can I be a part time May flower?

Hi,

Since surgery 25lb. Total loss over 50lbs. but only counting with ticker from surgery onwards. I'd really like to see what most have done post surgery. To me that is and was the great equalizer. When I see others loss at 50, 60 and 70 lbs and they've only been banded for 2 months I'm like holy heck what am I doing wrong? I kinda wish there was some uniformity to reporting. so not sure if i'm on track at 25lb... but it is what it is.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
