Hey all. Pics look great!

I was just banded Monday afternoon and was told to take off the bandages in 48 hours and let the steristrips just fall off on their own. I was just wondering...do you cover the steristrips with bandaids or gauze bandages before leaving for work. I guess I'm just afraid that the strips will come off before they are meant to. Thanks :P Virginia

Okay, I'm going to leave my steri-strips alone. I have trimmed the edges, they bug me when they rub/pull on my shirt.

I see the surgeon on Tues. for 1st follow-up. Maybe he'll take 'em off.

I use maderma on my scars. They aren't old enough to know whether it's making a difference or not. It seems like OK stuff, but sometimes it makes me itch so bad I could scream.

I just started using the generic Target version of it. I can't really tell anything yet of course but we shall see.

One of my steri-strips came off and there is a single stitch sticking out. It doesn't hurt or bother me or anything. Should I try and pull it out myself or have my doc do it when I see him on Thursday for my post-op appt?

i do not have immediate post op pics of my scars, but here i am almost 6 months out.

i had my gall bladder out about 20 years ago so that is the 'zipper scar'. there are more scars than normal because i had some problems with scar tissue.

here's my big (but shrinking) belly

I didn't bruise at all, and I bruise fairly easy.

The scars don't seem too bad, the badly bruised pictures kind of scared me.. but I hardly EVER bruise as it is, I can take quite a beating before I get a bruise. LOL

I had that happen to me, but I was afraid to pull. I took cuticle clippers and cut the end off and had no further problems and couldn't feel it after that.

My scars are tiny, except for one that is about an inch long where the band actually went in. They're about all pink already, and I am two weeks out from surgery.

So the previous page showed my scars up to 9 days after my surgery. It was looking good until I had to go to the ER for a perforated colon. I had an emergency right hemicolectomy (removed part of my colon) and appendectomy (removed my appendix). I have an approximately 16" scar from an open abdominal surgery they performed. Thought you guys would like to see how that is coming. I posted the topic all about my surgery here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/survived-emergency-hemicolectomy-t32434.html?t=32434&highlight=hemicolectomy

By the way, I'm down 50 lbs. since January. I was banded March 5th and went through this surgery on March 21st.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
