Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

please no DR HAUCUZ

Recommended Posts

I hada my band in dec 19 in Tijuana with dr. Haucuz he put in a wrong place now i had to do all again. Painfull, a lot money and he keep saying comeback here and I do for you for 7000 again. I am not that crazy, my life is more than money.

Well I rest my case. You get what you are paying for most of the time. About Pompa and 6500.00 banding??

Oh hell this is getting old. How many times are people going to shop for a band like they are looking for a new pair of shoes??? I have a friend that got banded for over 38,000.00. Now here is a person getting banded for 6500.00 and complaining about the surgery and blaiming the Dr. I am so sorry you were injured, really. I am.

WATCH OUT for flashy ads promoting low fee's!! Just because someone advertises on this board does not mean you should use them. JMHO.

Dr. Daniel Huacuz also messed up on my friend`s band. She had her surgery on December 2007 and since then was having extremelly strong pains. Since I have the band as well I kept on telling her that sometimes we do have pain but she needed to check with her doctor. Before surgery Dr. Huacuz called her many times and answered each and every question she had, however this picture changed after surgery, she could not get a hold of him often and every time she talked to him he was very rude to her. Once I called him and while he talked to me I could hear a beeping sound on the background, sounded like he was in the surgery center at the same time - hopefully not performing a surgery.!

Last week, my friend passed out and was taken to the ER with her nails and lips turning purple... when the bariatric surgeon got inside he found an inamed band that was place in the wrong portion of her stomach and on top of that it was an old type of band, one that is not even produced by inamed any longer. My friend said that the day before surgery, Dr. Huacuz showed her small, new band and said that was the style she was getting.... All I know is that my friend is now doing well after the nightmare... she is glad to have that band removed and to be receiving the care of a new doctor.

You are below your goal weight. That's awesome! I love to see that! There's hope for me, too. To what do you attribute your amazing success in losing the weight? Thank you!

Just wondering how these people actually managed to weigh less than their goal weight. That seems like a major accomplishment to me. I want to find out how they did it. Do you have any good advice for me? I'm scheduled for sugery on Apr 22.

ANOTHER IMPOSTER...BUSTED?

That's my hunch.

I'm ALL for telling the truth about doctors (good and bad) but to do this is wrong. I sent it to a moderator, we'll see what happens.

A lot of people don't know what goal weight they want to be. They set it for between 18-24.9... a healthy weight average for their body build. Then when they get to the upper limits of "healthy" they (like me) realize that's not enough. I got to where I want to be. In my case I am still losing slowly and I really don't want to so I need to fix that. My plastic surgeon said he'll remove about 10# in my tt & Lipo. That will put me at a BMI of 21.3 and that is a little lower than I prefer for my body build.

I added a ticker to my sig to shame me into doing things right. ;o) It worked for me when I wanted to lose, maybe it will work for me now that I don't want to lose.

Is there something I am missing, or am I looking at the wrong post? I don't see any reference to Ortiz in the post I thought we were questioning here.

Nevermind, I found it in an earlier post.

I'm getting curious about this. Utahband has posted quite a bit over the last three months and even gave her full name and email address in an earlier post. It's interesting, because one time she relates the story word for word, but puts it forth as a friend's experience. The other time it is the same story, but the pronouns have been changed to "I" and "me." The story is written in decent English like the writer is a fluent English speaker. The shorter messages are not. I suppose the administrators can tell us if all these posts are coming from the same computer. Oh, what tangled webs we weave . . .

What in the world does English have to do with it? Your "friend" is copying your posts word for word and posting them as her own.

Looks a lot like multiple IDs to me.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
