LJM, please please keep doing some deep breathing exercises, and if they sent that machine thingy with you, USE IT! You are still at risk for pneumonia and since your pulse ox kept being a problem, you are at a bit higher of a risk. Stay on top of things.

Glad to hear you are home. Another suggestion for getting things "moving" again is to get some Gerber baby prune apple juice, works GREAT and tastes quite good, too. Not at all like regular prune juice-ick!

C... they didn't give me a breathing thingy and even though I was xr'd for pneumonia, I still think I had something. I had a cough from hell for almost three weeks.

Breathe girl, breathe and keep using those leg pumps, I called them leg irons, because I always felt trapped when they were on.

Hugs and a speedy recovery sent your way!

PS,

Did I mention I'm so happy for you .

pain is minimal, more sore than anything.

my pain pump ran out of juice, so he pulled it out this morning.. didnt even feel it.

getting up and down off the bathroom was challenging.

appetite still gone, they brought me a HUGE Breakfast of omelet, 2 biscuits, sausage, etc.. darn near made me gag... had 1/2 Atkins shake and banana, slowly eating chocolate pudding right now.

being around DD I think has taken care of the low BP. she is tired and whiney..

dunno if I posted, I did get a shower in.. felt AMAZING!! I felt like there was a green smoke coming from my body *gag*..

I can't remember who all response, sorry.

faith, will have DH set up reminders for the breathing

karey, hope all went well with mom.. it isn't HORRIBLE, but not a walk in the park... walk as soon as they suggest it. first few times suck, but it gets easier

thanks everyone for thoughts REALLY appreciate it.

C

ok.... i am SO swollen. SO SO SO very swollen, hopefully not just my fingers and toes cause my tummy is still bigger than i would liek it, but ya know, even if i were to only go down a little more, it would be SO worth it.

i had DH take pics in these pants night before and took them again just now. really big difference!

kinda questioning the lipo... ??? i dont see a huge difference yet. hopefully its just swelling (a lot).

HOLY MOLY LJM !!!!! I wish my results were that dramatic! You look amazing already . . .

I know what you mean about questioning the Lipo - he did a little on my inner thighs and they are the only thing that hurts, and did I mention the bruising??? OHMYGOSH! I looked like I had been beat with my son's baseball bat! I am pretty sure I could have saved myself that pain and money and would have never known the difference - that is what I get for being hard-headed . . . HarleyNana tried to tell me!

I used the breathing thing-y one time in the hospital and it started an unbelievable coughing attack that I was certain ripped open all of my stitches - I never picked it up, or even thought about picking it up again. Coughing is not your friend at this point - avoid it if at all possible.

I hope you continue to feel well - take it easy and don't over-do it.

OMG HON!!!!! You look great!!

Right, dont worry about the swelling, especially the Lipo I actually got bigger then pre-op before it started going down!! My PS said that about 2 weeks in its starts to go down and at 4 weeks 80% of the swelling is gone but it can take anither 3-6 months for the last 20%.

As for the swelling on your tummy - totally normal hon, your tissues are having a freak at tthe moment, again ittook about 2 weeks to start going down, and the skin has to re-adhere to the muscle even with the stitching that our PS's use.

watch the blood pressure, mine was still dipping when I came out after a week! The blood thinners are ouchy for sure - I have to take them for 2 weeks post op cos my platlet count is sky high, but I was used to them from when I did IVF!

I am so glad that you sound so chipper hon, just dont push too far too fast!

Love and hugs

Nina x

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
