I used to burp occasionally. Now I burp all the time and burp like a sailor! It's not pretty.... I get uncomfortable about an hour after I eat, and that's when the burping starts. I've learned, like the lady above, that I can force the burps and get a little relief from the gas. I feel better for about 10 minutes and the pressure builds up and here comes another one! Sometimes I get real tired of it.

I am 5 days post op and I burp all the time. They are kinda painful. I spoke with the nurse today and she told me all is normal. So I guess I just have to wait it out.

I rarely burp now. If I do it is a tiny little burp. All of my gas comes out the other end. LOL

I have very long burps now, where I never used yo burp anything likes this. I had my first fill on 1/10/08 and the burping started some time after that. Does anyone know why your burping changes. The first time it happened I was in shock while I was burping becaues I could not believe I was burping that long.

Has anyone done a poll to find out if there's a correlation between being able to burp and getting stuck/PB'ing? I'd guess that those of us who are able to burp easily will experience less of the stuck/PB thing but it may be the opposite is true, or that they are completely unrelated.

Personally, I burp after just about every meal and feel anything from a little to a lot of discomfort until I do, but have never really understood what people mean by "stuck" and never had a PB. From the descriptions of getting stuck that I've read, it sounds to me a lot like a burp that doesn't want to come up.

Is anyone familiar with both sensations and can describe the differences?

no no no fanny a burp thats stuck is no way like getting stuck. when you get stuck you have pain, and i mean pain in the middle of your chest, right between the boobs. its the food and it either goes down after a while or it comes up. but it is very uncomfortable. you also salivate while the food is stuck and if you swallow the saliva it just adds to the stuck food more. so you have to spit out the saliva. i usually get a little burp when its time for me to stop eating and if i dont stop i pay for it. you just have to learn about your own body and how it works with the band.

I don't burp, but I do poot a lot more, maybe it is from the same thing just mine heads the opposite way. I am going to ask my doctor if this is common. It's also worse now that I have better restriction.

I've just been banded a month now and it's so weird.....after eating, when I inhale deeply, I let out a long burp. Now, I am a singer and I am dreading taking a deep breath during a song and letting one rip!:)

I don't burp any more than before, but those sneaky little farts just slip out in the dangest places. If I'm in a store, I just look around...like, who did that, LOL.

I got a fill on Friday just gone and I've been burping like crazy ever since. At times it's uncomfortable, but mostly it's just damn annoying. And it's only air. There is a difference in sensation for me between a burp and PBing. My salivary glands will go into overdrive if I have something stuck and it needs to get out and I have to wait (typically not too long) until I PB. I'm usually stuck over a sink or toilet bowl until it clears out with my mouth open, drooling like a toddler.

Then there's sliming and that's not a pleasant experience either. :cool2: Sometimes my saliva just gets too much and too thick and it'll want to come up. At times it's a big ball of foam, at times it's just clear slime. Sorry if that's too much info. It's not the most attractive visual. :)

Pepcid Complete has helped me with the burping today (thanks to a forum angel for the tip). It takes a few minutes to kick in, but it's a godsend.

I'm doing the hicaburping a lot since my last fill. I was so hungry when I got home today and forgot about my band and had a bite of chicken my grandson left on his plate and it got stuck. So I was stuck and hungry for about an hour. Finally had a slimfast and a yogurt and for about 1 hr I was comfortable. Now hungry again. I guess everything went through alright.

i voted Unsure cause there isnt a "no" option. i have considerably less gas post-band.

hiccuping on the other hand. that is my signal to not take one more bite... runny nose is my 'soft stop' a hiccup is a STOP NOW.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
