  1. I was banded in November, 2007. I did very well but it was a long journey. I lost and then I would plateau, lose again and then plateau. It took 5 years to lose 90 pounds. I then had a tummy tuck and breast lift. I had a few issues with reflux so the band doc removed most of the fill. I began to gain and now I am up 40 pounds. I just got a small fill and I really hope I can get back on track. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I am in Houston and I had to find a new doctor for fills. The Davis Clinic accepted me as a patient and is doing my fills. However, they no longer perform lap band surgery. They do other bariatric surgeries. I am actually sitting in their office now waiting for a fill. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  7. I really want a thigh lift. Last year I had a full body lift and breast lift. I love the results and the recovery was pretty easy. For some reason I am scared to do the thigh lift. It seems really painful.

  11. I have a similar problem. I got a partial unfill due to reflux and after getting a fill I still don't have much restriction. It is difficult but I am trying to eat better and really pay attention to portion sizes. My doctor said that if your pouch has dilated at all that even after getting a fill again you won't have the same restriction. Good luck to you!

  14. It can take a while to get all the gas out of your body after surgery. What types of food are you eating? Are you keeping food down?
  15. I am so sorry that this happened. I can relate. I was banded 4.5 yrs ago and I am at goal. A couple of years ago I had reflux and had a slight unfill and that worked great. I got a small amount put back in and it worked great for a couple of years and then the reflux started again. I was in denial it was the band because I didn't want an unfill. I have not had big issues with throwing up but it was difficult to eat. I gave in and called my doc. I found out that he has retired so I now have a new doctor. He took out half of the 7 cc's in my 10 cc band. My band had not slipped and my pouch was slightly dilated. I was freaking starving. The hunger was painful. I was determined not to gain so I started counting points. I was in the process of scheduling a tummy tuck, lower body lift and breast lift. I had that surgery and was glad my band was loose for that recovery. My new doc required me to have a camera put up my nose and down my throat to my stomach to make sure all was well before another fill. Luckily all is well. I have managed to only gain a few pounds during this although it is hard to tell what is gain from swelling and what is a real gain. I got a fill yesterday and now I have 4.75 cc's in my band. I don't really have restriction but I do seem to stay fuller a little longer. I am so thankful my band is ok. I hope everything turns out ok for you. I would definitely get it repositioned if you can. Good luck to you!
  16. It will cause the food to pass through the and faster allowing you to eat more before you become satisfied. If you eat a bit and then drink the liquid can sit on top of the food making you feel full but the liqiud will pass through quickly leaving you hungry. They say for best results to eat solids only so that you feel full for a longer period of time. It is hard for me too.
  17. Start saving now and make sure you keep your credit in good shape so you can get a loan if needed. Good luck!

  19. I was banded 4.5 years ago and I didn't have to do a liquid diet. The pain is NOT that bad. I am at goal and I am happy. Dob't listen to that other poster. Exercise is important and I did exercise a lot after the band but I could not have controlled my eating without the band. It is a great tool! You made a great decision. Good luck!

  21. The band is only a tool. You need to eat less and and maker better choices. Most Successful bandsters count calories or do WW or something. If you don't eat less you will not lose weight. Same as before the band. The band is to make it easier. Once you have good restriction it will help. Good luck!
  22. I was banded 11/20/07 and it was the best decision I've ever made. It is true that some people have had issues. That is true with all weight loss surgeries. I lost 90 pounds and I am at goal. I had a tummy tuck, lower body lift, breast lift and lipo 5 weeks ago. I am a different person. Good luck!
  23. Buy fat free refried beans. I love the Rosarita brand.

  25. I've had my band for 4.5 years and it doing great. I was too tight and had some Fluid out and the doc ran a scope up my nose and down my throat to make sure everything was ok and it is. I can't wait to start getting fills again in 12 days. It is true that most of the people that return to these sites come back because they have problems. There are a lot of bandsters out there that have no issues with their bands. I highly recommend the lap bend. I lost 90 pounds and I recently got a tummy tuck, lower body lift and breast lift. Good luck!
