Been a few days since I have seen any posts here, hope everyone is doing well.

I had my 1 year check up with my Doctor yesterday.. she is pleased with my progress. my only issue is with me!!! I am having trouble making the right choices in what I eat. I have great restriction, but just eating all the wrong things..

Hi Lynn1215---

Sounds as though you and I have the same problem. I have good restriction at present, but have been making bad choices with my food picks. I have particulary had a sweet tooth lately. I love hot cinnamon candies. When I get started on those, I can't seem to stop until they are all gone. I have been having a hard time with drinking Water as I should, also. When I do eat the right things, my restriction is so good that I can't eat much. Later, I want to start eating the wrong things again.

Maybe we can help each other with these problems. Or maybe, someone out there can give us some suggestions. I do know the band is not going to do it for us. We have to use it as a tool, not an answer to overeating. I think we have to get our minds in gear, again, and get down to business. Good Luck and let's get back on track.

MiMI

75 pounds lost in one year? That's nothing to beat yourself up about! Are you gaining weight? Or just stalled in loss? Gaining could mean bad choices, not losing might mean many different things. Have you though about challenging yourself to an exercise marathon (like, exercise a minimum of 2 hours every day for one week), or something like that, to jump start yourself again?

Hi lynnt, Im stalled out myself. Don't know if the 100 calorie snack packs dont like me or why I quit losing weight. Im still here too, just not posting because I'm not losing any weight.

Hang in there, sounds like you are maintaining at least. I think those last lbs can be the hardest to lose as your body has now probably adjusted your metabolism to what you are now eating.

Hi Mimi. Try the cinnamon flavored Tic-Tacs. They are really good and less than 1 calorie.

I will try the cinnamon tic tacs. That sounds great.

Let me tell you, it's very easy to put weight back on when you get to goal. I have been slacking on exercise lately, and have been gaining and losing the same lbs. I use to exercise 6 days a week in the weight loss phase

and now things just seem to be getting in my way.

Hi Everyone,

Had every second staple out on Friday, get the rest out next Friday. The surgeon filled me in on lots of things about the operation. He likened me to a starving child in Africa with the big belly. What I'd thought was the hernia was not only the hernia but the distended belly from malnutrition. Apparently the body also goes orange, I hadn't done that.

The lack of Protein and other things in my blood also prevented him fixing other things because he knew my body had nothing to heal itself with. Also it prevented him from putting the mesh in to prevent the hernia busting through again. It wouldn't have taken. If it does happen again, he will use the mesh because in a few months my body will have become stronger and healthier with good nutrition.

I'm not so dirty on him now that I know the facts.

I'm still very tired and very sore but it's still early days yet.

Best wishes to everyone.

Tell me about the sleeve surgery. Is it going to be open or laparoscopic?

Lynn & Mimi, for me the answer is to not allow the poor food choice items in the house. For me, my cinnamon candies would be Fritos. I just can't have them near me. If I buy them I won't stop til the bag is empty. Is there a way to avoid the foods that are tempting you? I'm not even too keen on the idea of teh 100 calorie snack packs because even most of those don't folllow the bandster rules of mostly Protein. But if you must have something you crave, try just getting a small portion so the left overs aren't there to tempt you. Most of the 100 calorie snack packs I have seen come in a box with many 100 calorie snack packs, so I would just open another and then another.

Katydid, glad to hear you are recovering well. What an ordeal you had been through.

gone 4 ever--I never thought about the TicTacs. Good idea! Maybe I might not eat as many of those at one time, like I would with a big bag.

Long 2b Thin---I understand exactly what you mean about the 100 cal. snack packs. I used to keep a box at my desk --- I never ate just one pack.

Katydid---I am so glad that you are on the mend and are on your way to being healthy again. I know you will feel so much better after the rest of your staples are out.

I have a hard time with those Fiber one bars. They are so good. I stopped buying the box of 30 even though it's so much cheaper than buying the box of 5. I just want to keep eating them. I need Fiber so I rationalize that I need to buy them. There's no fiber in a high Protein diet without a lot of fruit, etc. It seems no matter how many veggies I eat, I am constipated.

The sleeve surgery is going to be done laparoscopic . It's going to provide me with perfect restriction all the time without worrying about fills or unfills or being over filled.

Right now I have no restriction and it's not a good thing.

I know I can blame no one but myself for my poor food choices. my downfall is chocolate....and now it is Easter time..and we just passed Valentine's Day. I usually do not have any at all in the house, but I have those weaknesses and BAM I go buy it. Also lots of stressat work, lay-offs going on... And I am a stress eater, so that is a big issues for me.

I am going to be extrememly obeservant of what goes into my mouth.. and hope it kicks my head into gear..weekends are also hard to get in all my water..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
