Hey all!
I need any advice, help etc. I had gastric sleeve surgery March 2022. I lost 50lb. But within 6-7months i was already headed back to bad habits and never returned! I have given myself so much grief over how i have let myself down and have let not only bad habits come back but the weight. Has anyone been in my boat, is there a chance of returning??

Best advice is to get back into contact with your therapist (if you saw one as part of your pre surgical process) or ask your team for a referral to one. They will help you work through the why behind your bad eating habits & help you develop strategies to manage when those situations (stress, anxiety, boredom, past issues, life in general, etc.) arise.

Then go back to how you were eating when you lost that 50lbs. You don’t need to go back to the very beginning. Meet those Protein & fluid goals. Eat your protein first, then vegetables & only if you can any carbs you are allowed (look for whole or multi grain low prices see versions). Keep your fat & sugar (real, artificial or alternatives) low. Check your portions. Return to tracking if you did it before to check your getting your nutrients in. Maybe catch up with your dietician too to help you get back on track.

You can do this.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I have reached out to my nutritionist and will see her. My insurance recently changed and i will then see a therapist on emotional eating. I wanted to change my life and i still can! Thank you!!

You really can still change your life. The surgery is still working, you just need to get back on track. It is really really hard though. The hardest thing you will do and continue to do. But is IS doable because you have a secret weapon (SLEEVE!!!!)

We live in a world where millions and millions of dollars are pumped into making us eat far more than we need, of food that doesn't even nourish us or keep us healthy but makes profit for big food companies. It's so difficult to find a way through that. I would say it's impossible to do it alone when every supermarket and shop has ultra processed food showcased at every turn (that tastes so good because all the millions of dollars are aimed towards that and that alone).

Please post here lots and let us know how you're progressing. We are all human, we all make mistakes, big and small, but we're all here for you.

Ah - sorry - forgot what I actually started out to say. Arabesque is right (as she usually is). If you can go back to your original programme do. Protein first, veg second, carbs third or not at all. No sugar, it's ridiculously addictive and produces insulin spikes that make you crave it more. Perhaps consider a Keto week to get you started and minimise cravings - so protein and green leafy veg only?

Small steps in the right direction are still wins plus they’re often easier to adopt & adapt to.

I am glad to hear you are headed back in the right direction. Keep it up, but if you can’t do ir on your own don’t hesitate to ask for your surgeons help. They have medication that can help most people.

Especially when keeping in mind that the all-in-gung-ho approach didn't work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
