March 2022 Surgery Buddies

  • Popular Post

Hey Guys! So I have a date (again), it's March 8th - meaning my 2 week "liquid" diet will start Feb 22.

The short month of February makes me feel like I've been granted a shortcut somehow! Who else has a date for March??

  • Congratulations to all the March surgery dates. I was March 9 last year and boy what a year it has been so far. I am currently stuck at about 9 pounds from goal. I may have to add in more exercise to

  • Got a March 17th date a couple of weeks ago. Very excited and nervous. And very hopefully it doesn't get postponed for one reason or another. That would be so disheartening at this point.

  • Mindful Moment: I'm feeling all kinds of emotions today. It's this weird mix of fear, anxiety, elation, resolve, focus, and super-charged anticipation of my future self all at once. If you may be feel

I'm two days after you. March 24th. I just had my phone medical consult. I have a one week diet of 2 protein shakes and one meal per day. Reminds me of the Slim Fast commercials.

I am schedule for March 31st!

Same for me! I am March 1st and I am getting so nervous. I fly out on the 28th to go have mine done. I am a ball of nerves right now. Best of luck.

I had a Covid test this morning which I'm sure will be negative. My backpack is mostly packed and my apartment is almost totally clean. I'll pretty much finish the cleaning today, chill tomorrow and do errands Monday. I'll call the hospital scheduling line Monday evening to get my Tuesday morning arrival time. One of my neighbors is giving me a ride. She's an early riser so if I need to get their super early it won't be much of an inconvenience. I told her I'd pay her but she's refusing money so I'm going to crochet her a few dishcloths.

I did, too. Five more days for me. I'm about to jump out of my skin, I'm so excited. Hard to believe that a week from today I'll be home from the hospital.

I got questions.

What are y’all packing in your hospital bags?

What are you planning on doing for entertainment while in the hospital and when back home recovering?

I will be solo at the hospital with no family.

I'm bringing my smart phone, an extra long charging cord and my noise cancelling headphones for my entertainment. When I had my sleeve I had other stuff with me but didn't touch it. You'll be busy just sipping and walking.

I'm having my revision to bypass on Tuesday and don't have much in my backpack. Pajama pants, underwear, socks, a small bottle of my lotion and the pre and post-op information they told me to bring with. I may add a small thing or two but nothing major. It's still Winter here but I'm leaving my Winter coat at home since it's a super short drive. The less we bring the better! Oh yeah, I am going to bring my own pillow, as suggested by my surgeon's nurse.

Mine came back negative! Just a little over 2 days for me. I should be home the next day. Although I wouldn't be surprised if I stayed an extra day due to swelling. When I had my sleeve I had to have a big dose of steroids due to my sleeve swelling so much it took a very long time for liquids to get through when they did a leak test the next morning.

Yes! I know that feeling so well. I'm not anxious at all, just super excited to get rid of this damn GERD! My hospital goes through great lengths to make sure patients are super comfortable. I had another surgery a few months ago (darn IUD decided to burrow into my uterus) and everyone and everything was awesome.

March 21st for my revision. See my Dr for pre-op this Thursday. A lot has changed since my original surgery over 22 years ago. My Dr said I should be home same day, but we'll see.

I’ve noticed some of you are having a gastric bypass because of heartburn issues. I do have heartburn and acid reflux occasionally, but I am having the vertical sleeve. I don’t have my scope until the day before my surgery. I think I’m over thinking things because I’m nervous. I don’t want to fly out there and have my surgery postponed/cancelled
