Hi everyone! I'm new here with a March 15th surgery date. I'm self-pay with Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, FL. It's all happening pretty fast after having spent years and years researching. My insurance specifically excludes all bariatric procedures. I'm super nervous but also super excited to begin the next chapter of my life.

Good luck on your surgery. I'm also having the Sleeve surgery with Dr. S in May so would love to hear your feedback. I'm sure you'll do well!!

Thank you, I will definitely try the fiver I hadn't thought about that and I can't incorporate that daily. Also the MOM I wanted to ask the doc tmrw if that was OK so soon after surgery. But I will do that if he says it's ok. Thanks again

Hey everyone so I had my sleeve on March 7th this past Monday and I must say that I was not expecting the level of pain im in. There are a lot of challenges im facing right now that im just uncertain about and im only one week in. I have a call with the DOC in the morning and hopefully we can get to the bottom of some of this. I haven't had a bowel movement since the surgery and each day my Fluid intake is less and less. Im trying to force fluids down causing super sharp pains and my body just doesn't want it. Anyone who has been through this, can you please tell me what you did and how you got through. Thanks. And good luck for all those March people going in..

I’m in the same boat. Mine was the 8th. Still haven’t had a BM. I have my first follow up the 15th so maybe I can get some answers. And I feel you. It’s been SO hard to get my fluids in.

Take smaller sips, and wait two minutes between them. It will be your full-time job for a while. (That's what a hospital nurse told me.) Also, try a different temperature of Water -- warmer or colder than usual until you find the sweet spot. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

Same here, when is your surgery date? Mine is the 21st. I am tired of shakes though, I have been on my pre-op diet since the 7th. Good thing tho, I lost 12 lbs so far since I started the pre-op. haha

We are surgery twins. Mine is the 21st at 10:30 pacific time. I've lost 19 so far on the pre-op diet.

Anyone have any tips on how to deal with trapped gas?

I haven't had surgery yet but all I keep seeing and what they told me in my classes is walk, walk, walk it out!

Walking and having somebody percuss your back/shoulder or wherever the trapped gas. It was explained in a video I watched from my surgery center. My surgery is next week, so I have no first hand experience though

I read your post as singing and not signing, so I was imagining you like a Disney princess singing so beautifully - your arms out stretched twirling as birds chirp near by. lol as your signing in.

I was so excited, too. But then I was very surprised that I started having the internal questioning (am I doing the right thing, what will happen if I die, can something go wrong, etc.) and a high level of emotion as I was trying to fall asleep -the night before wake up for surgery. I did sleep though, I know I need to see a therapist after I get healed to deal with the primary issues that drive me to use food as an absolute coping mechanism. I need to deal with childhood sexual trauma, establish boundaries and even build some walls.

Nice vision of you as your own Disney princess. ❤️

The gas is the worst part of it all. I still feel it in my chest. You need to take long swift deep breaths to open your lungs and push out your lungs. Practice it. It hurts through it but you will benefit and so will your lungs. The air takes time. Walk and wiggle it out. gently.

Omg that is funny that we are at the same time but 3 hrs apart lol. I will be on my way to the surgery center when your surgery starts (I'm an hour and a half away). I'll be thinking of you!

OMG! That is so funny! Hmm I think I would be either Anna or Belle as a Disney princess, their personalities suit me to a T. Just wish I could sing! Lol

Yes, therapy is important to get rid of those underlying issues. I've been in therapy for years, but doing the pre-op, and sticking to it, has made me really see how stress and boredom were really a lot of the reasons I would make the wrong food choices more often than not. It has been an eye opener for me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
