Almost ALL restaurant food! It's such a shame because I am good at choosing healthy options, and enjoy sitting at a table and being waited on when I'm too tired to cook myself, but it all tastes SO processed! I took my 5 y/o to Applebee's yesterday and I ordered the 6 oz. sirloin. It was so nasty, it's like they smothered it in liquid smoke or something. We went to a Logan's a couple weeks ago, and I spent $30 for the filet - it was terrible! And for only being able to eat not even half of it, totally not worth it. I tried the mashed potatoes, I could taste that they were fake boxed. I've been to Olive Garden and ordered the shrimp scampi just to eat the shrimp out of it - again totally not worth the cost. I'm finally learning it's not worth it to go out to eat - suck it up and cook at home. (Don't judge me for the chain restaurant choices! I live in a small rural town and that's about all we have).

I can relate to this completely. I also enjoy rest and being catered to. I now do my own steaks sous vide and then pan seared with rosemary garlic and unsalted butter. The only season I use is pure salted thick grained. And I make sure to buy lean cuts sirloin top sirloin etc.

Thank you for this. I have been reading about carbs I can eat and I’m so scared about rice, bread, and Pasta. I understand that it will take up to 18 months for the pouch to stretch again. In the meantime, sashimi is my new sushi order.

@Charotera303 omg 😱 I feel you - I just had 🦑, smoked salmon 🍣 and lemon pepper salmon with ponzu sauce yummy 🤤

eggs :( I used to eat 1 hard boiled egg in the morning and I can’t stand the smell or consistency. Tried scrambled eggs and same result. On the soft food stage currently

You can try to either use low fat cottage cheese or ricotta cheese with it or you have it medium or fried (using low fat margarine) and even with avocado. That has help me. I can’t also stand the nasty smell but I love 🥚

I haven't broken up with coffee, but I take it very differently now. I used to have the giant latte with like two cups of milk in it... now I just have an espresso with 5g of brown sugar, Cuban style.

The one thing I miss the most is my morning cup of tea or coffee 😭😭 and having a cuppa and cake with a friend. The old come round for a cuppa doesnt happen anymore. The reason being I cant stand the way the warm liquid feels going down. It feels really weird to me and i dont like it but geez i miss having a hot cuppa.

Is iced coffee not a thing in Oz? I know iced tea is strictly a US/Can thing, but not sure about iced coffee. Or cold brew?

If you want a morning hitch in your giddy-up and you don't want caffeine, try theobromine. It is the major stimulant in cacao Beans that is used to make cocoa powder.

Theobromine gives these benefits; mood booster, better sleep, breathe better, lowers blood pressure and improves cardiac health accorging to the National Institute of Health.

I buy a product from Amazon.com called Fermented Cacao Nibs by Terrasoul. The nibs are broken pieces, easliy chewable, of cocoa beans before they are cooked at high temperatures which destroys the benefits.

I put a teaspoon in my Cereal in the morning. They have a strong chocolate taste without the sugar. Don't eat too much. Like any good thing, you can overdo it.

Made the mistake of thinking I could chew rice down enough to tolerate it once I moved to solids. Nope, never again, and it was always my favorite starch. We make gumbo for the holidays and that was fine but I left the rice out because I don't think I ever want to be spend a day spitting that up again. 🤢

Most surprising for me is how I've taken to Splenda. Never liked it before, and now it tastes ok. Sugar makes me feel like I tasted engine oil. chicken is off the menu. Lime and super spicy is on the menu. I stuff peppadew peppers with kalamata olives, great snack. oatmeal is most definitely on the menu, and prior to surgery I was meh about it. I don't eat seafood, and never liked sushi, but now I enjoy the veggie rolls. My outside food is wonton egg drop Soup.

I think I'm not supposed to have caffeine...my PCP told me (not my surgeon who SHOULD be the one telling me) that the caffeine can cause dehydration, (so makes sense when WLS patients commonly are dehydrated)...anyway, I'm about 3 months out and about a week ago reintroduced coffee back into my life - just one cup in the morning with a little vanilla Premier Protein. Y'all...I get the caffeine jitters just off one cup! I make sure to drink a full 20 oz. of Water to make up for the possible dehydration. I had 2 cups this morning and I'm bouncing off the frickin walls!

Is so weird I haven’t either but my body can tolerate small amounts I usually have potent Brazilian coffee only 4 ounces with either 2 small spoons 🥄 of milk usually soy.

I flip flop back and forth with ground beef and turkey. Sometimes I want it and then there are some times where the sight or thought of it makes me nauseous.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
