At What Stage Did You Lose the Most Weight?

Recommended Posts

Pre-Op?

In the First Month Post-Op?

One-Three Months Post-Op?

Three-Six Months Post Op?

Just curious. Many people lose quite a bit on the pre-op diet a month or two, or more, before surgery. I would assume that the pre-op clear liquid diet would yield more of a loss, but some people have just as much quick loss on the Clear Liquids post-op, leading up to solid foods. Please chime in - thanks!

I still haven't had surgery, but I lost 46 lbs in the 7 months preparing and waiting for my surgery to be scheduled. My pre-op diet isn't liquid, it's just low carb and low fat and high Protein and lots of veggies. I've lost about 2 lbs in the last week.

Hopefully people who have been through all the stages will chime in and let you know... I am curious too!

First six months, for me. It slowed down after that, but the good thing is that it kept going and going. I was still losing almost two years after surgry.

I was on my pre-op diet for a little over 3 weeks and lost 22 pounds.

My surgery date was 8/25 and I have lost an additional 13 pounds. As silly as it sounds, I am paranoid about gaining weight once I start eating soft foods in a couple of days, and then solid foods the week after that. I am already dreading the 3-week stall that a lot of folks are talking about.

I have a follow up with my surgeon on Thursday, and will see what he says.

I was a lower BMI so my numbers may be a little lower. I lost 15 pounds on the pre op diet and ten the first month. It went down from there.

1) pre-op diet 2) first month of surgery (about the same amount of weight on each)

Unfortunately the heady weight loss rate of the first few weeks after surgery doesn’t last & your rate will slow over time. I lost about 5kg in the 2.5 weeks pre surgery diet. I lost about 9kg in the first month post surgery, another 9 the next two months (so18kg+/- in those first three months post surgery). Took another three months to lose the 9kg to my goal. (Just noticed the repeating 9kg losses over those time frames - freaky!) I lost another 11.5kg over the next year (months 6 to 18).

My scale comes with an app called FitIndex that I really like. It also has a fancy smart tape measure that I bought so I can measure myself for the times when weight loss stalls.

I am about a month out and lost 9 lbs on my pre-op diet and 35 lbs. in the first month post-op. I'm currently in the dreaded three-week stall, just continuing what I need to do and I know it'll resume eventually.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
