I had my surgery on the 1st. Everything has been going fine and my doc moved me to purees.

Since I moved to purees its been tough to get more then 2 -3 spoons in without getting this ball in my chest feeling.

Also I don't know if I'm doing to much (bending down, picking things up) but my stomach (inside) just feels off.

Sorry for the rant just wanted to see if anyone else is feeling the same

It’s normal to feel pain. It’s your stomach saying it’s full

remember your readjusting your stomach. I had my operation on July 4th so only recently on purées also

Hello All, I am scheduled for VSG tomorrow July 20th 2021. . In 2011 I had a lapband placed and did very well until I had complications/sepsis. I had emergency surgery in 2016 to have it removed. I am excited to have a second chance with the sleeve but a little nervous as well…..

Hey. How are you feeling? I was done today as well. A little sore. I had to do the overnight stay so I’m in my bed right now. Have a bit of a headache that doesn’t want to quit. And these gas pains are terrible. Overall not to bad.

Update on Surgery I had on July 19th.Not going to lie I was in so much gas pain and anything I drank burned going down..Was mostly on Morphine and anti nauseous medication ohh and sleeping.. Second day was easier. Was walking around, drinking more fluids and releasing the gas..I'm really thirsty but ill take it day by day. I was told my the team of doctors that it's best to have Decaf tea, Water and brooth until I slowly bring back the shakes.

It does get better with each day! Had my surgery on July 15 and was questioning what I had done the first few days but feeling better and starting Full liquids today. Don't rush it!

Hey

I feel the exact same! I’m still on full liquid and even just a few sips of a Protein Shake I get this full feeling with a tight knot behind my chest bone!! Very annoying.

I guess it’s just the process while we get used to our new stomachs. But your not alone…

xx

I had my VSG on July 9. It's been going good so far. No issue with Water intake. Last Saturday I started pureed meals phase. YAY! It feels sooo good to finally taste some real food... 😋

This site is awesome and has many good recipes https://bariatricbits.com/bariatricnutrition/pureed-meals/

I tried them all! 😊

Tomorrow is my day. I'm not nervous AT ALL.

I've always looked for "signs." Like if there were bumps in the road as I was trying to do something, I tend to think it was God warning me not to do it. There have been no bumps -- so, I'm thinking God's got this. LOL

Today was all the phone calls from the people wanting their money, anesthesia and hospital. My debit card was declined even though I've got the amount needed. At first I thought it might be a sign --but guess what, the girl on the phone had VGS back in 2013. She just so happened to be my same weight and height at the time of her surgery. We talked and talked. So --I took that as a good sign. It turns out my bank puts a cap on how much you can debit in one day as a safety measure. I had to call the bank and tell them what was going on. Then they had to get approval. So it has taken all day to pay the hospital --but I'm expected there at 10:30 tomorrow.

School starts on the 9th of August. I'm hoping I will have had enough down time to teach without complications.

Hi Soonlee,

I did the same thing! I looked for signs that GOD didn't want me to take this route and got nothing! So on July 12th, I had my surgery. It was awful the first 3 days due to the drugs they had me on. Once I got home, things got better fast. I've been back at work since Monday and I feel great. I make sure I have 3 Protein Drinks a day and a couple servings of Soup. Good luck of your surgery!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
