I’m down 16 pounds from surgery date June 28th. No issues other than swallowing Calcium. And missing food so much.

Same! I’ve been at home, doing nothing, feeling LAZY. Aside from the grocery store pick ups and walking to the mailbox I have done nothing! We can’t ‘pick up’ over 5-10 pounds, so I feel helpless! I am NOT wanting to go back to work, I’m 13 days out and still having ‘stitch pain’ ( I GUESS that’s what it is) . But I am looking forward to the dr on Tuesday, to MAYBE get some answers on this pain thing. I am afraid to go for a ‘good walk’, I fear being ‘too far’ from the house. The hubby is ‘gaming’ .

Thank you so much! Does anyone else have like 2 incisions that are wayyy more painful than the rest? Two of mine hurt real bad when I stand up and move alot. I'm trying to get my walking in but I literally have to hold my stomach with my hands real tight in order to not hurt bc it literally feels like my muscles are just tearing apart! I can't even get into my own bed still. I'm basically living in my livingroom on my recliner. I want to sleep in my bed on my side so bad but I tried the other day and omg I thought I was gonna die trying to get up! My dr said that I just basically pulled my muscles in my stomach and that I will eventually be ok lol. Also, he told me how I should be losing 3 lbs a week at this point. I sure hope so lol bc I've only lost 12 lbs so far so I hope I keep losing🙏🤞 And my dr said how he wants me to be walking 10miles I almost fell of the table lol 😆 but I know I know it's a lifestyle change so I gotta just stay positive and try n try n try bc I gotta get healthy so I can get back to work! I will be praying for everyone on here for a quick recovery!

Yes! That’s me! They DIDN’T hurt, I’m 13 days post op sleeve, until the past few days! I felt like I was writing your post! ( except I’m am NOT walking as much as u, lol)

Hi

Had my sleeve done on 21st.

Been big ups and downs, can finally drink without problems but feeling full straight away when eating not even getting a tablespoon down before feeling it, also not getting near enough Protein, only having one drink at night taking 2-3 hours to finish it. In quite a bit of pain atm but not quite at week 2 post op so hopefully will get better down the line🤞

I am 16 days post surgery. Weight loss going well but I am experiencing excruciating pain nightly. It feels like someone punched me in the stomach. It can take 30 min or more to calm down. Im following the diet, walking. Not sure why. I'm hoping it's just healing process, going to see Dr this week. Has anyone had this?

I'm four days out from the surgery & I have recurring, terrible pain in the upper left abdomen. I did some research & learned that it's at this incisional site that most of the physical manipulating of surgery is carried out & also where the largest stitching takes place to guard against a future hernia. The fascia in particular are bruised & injured in the process. Pain here is normal & can radiate to the shoulder &/or neck. Tylenol will help to a degree & the pain will resolve within a few weeks. It can be worse at night when we're sleeping because we're unconsciously moving & tossing our bodies as though everything's normal.

I wish you a full & speedy recovery & really hope the pain diminishes soon. 💖

PS: I'm in Montreal, Quebec. Which province are you in, if I may ask?

Greetings,

Surgery date June 29, 2021 and it has already been life changing. My blood sugars have been between 99-144 for over two weeks normally we’re running 300+. I am just grateful for the community.

That is absolutely fantastic!!! I am so, so happy for you. I had my bypass June 30th, 2021, & I'm hoping to resolve my severe sleep apnea & increase mobility again. May we both be blessed with many healthy successes in the years to come. 💪💖🤗

Surgery twins!

twins!

how r u doing so far? 2 weeks today!

I got so excited today was my two week post op appt with surgeon. Had to be by phone call as I flew out for surgery but home now. Was late to call and then talked down to me for 10 minutes regarding things I already know and I wasn't able to ask a single question! When she hung up on me with the note 'will send a bloods test at three months talk to you later' I just burst into tears. I got so much weighing on my mind and nothing was answered and you can only trust the internet for advice so much. I have over a page of questions some of which I think are super important. Going to call my GP in the morn and see if I can get in with her ASAP, didn't even get to confirm whether or not bandages can come off, uncle Google says yes but every surgeon is different so who the hell knows? Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

I’m so sorry that you got treated that way. I can’t say as mine ( follow up) will be much better. We will see tomorrow. We have a ‘portal’ to send/receive messages to the bariatric team, but this far the ‘answers’ I get are ‘short and not REALLY answering anything I’m asking’. It seems that since the surgery they are kinda ‘done’ w me, and that may be just my emotions talking, or I’m sure that’s what they will try and say, lol. I have only lost 7 pounds, and I know I shouldn’t be ‘on the scale’, but of course I am! I see all these other ppl loosing soo much more post op. My pain is ok, I haven’t taken anything since 3 days out, but I am having a ‘stitch pain’( from what I’ve read) when I move a certain way, raise my arm. It’s on the right side. I did have a minor hernia repair while he was in tho, I had no idea I had it. As far as bandages, I was glued shut, so I never had any bandages so I’m not sure about that. I started my Vitamins back today. I haven’t had any trouble getting my Water in daily. The first few days it was a struggle. I have not been nauseous or thrown up at all , knock on wood,. I have followed the diet ( mostly, I had some mashed potatoes) . I have NOT ate ANYTHING sweet, I’m scared of dumping syndrome. I drink the Protein Shakes for most of my Protein, and just started yesterday on stage 3, adding ‘mushy meat’ to my diet and smashed veggies. The ricotta bake tasted SOOOO heavenly!! How are you feeling????

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
