November 2020 sleevers

Same feelings here! It feels great to get back into some physical activity I used to love. I let myself get really out of control for a long time and I'm just now recognizing how much my love of food took away my love of everything else.

I decided to only step on the scale maybe once a month and just focus on working out and eating right.

I'm leaving for a snowboarding trip in Armenia next week. Its my first time going in over a decade. When I was a teenager and in college I used to compete and was an instructor. I'm excited to go again, even if I know my weight is still too high and will be a hindrance.

One psychological struggle I'm having is that I'm a total fashionista. At every weight I've managed to have a great wardrobe and made it look GOOD. It's really hard to do that during weight loss and while I love that my clothes are way too big now I also don't want to buy anything new until I'm closer to a goal. However, that means a long time not having my fashion fix and I'm struggling.

Oh, me too!

But I still hardly leave the house (because of COVID). It seemed like a weird time to do this in November, but it’s sort of working to my advantage. It’s easier to not buy clothes if nobody’s going to see me anyway! 😂

Anybody still here? How are we all doing 4ish months out? I’m currently down 113 and selling pretty much every article of clothing I own on poshmark. Looks like I finally found the secret to decluttering, just don’t fit into anything you own anymore.

I'm down 91 since November 2 preop.

Finally caved and bought some new pants over the weekend. Down 70 from pre-op, buckling down to get as much off before the 6 month mark as possible as my doc said it pretty well stops there. I’m 15 lbs away from his benchmark goal for my 6mo follow up.

I have NOT been a good patient. Between switching jobs, helping with my nephews, and going back to school to get my teaching license, I have really dropped off on the walking. Sat down with my planner this week and designated an hour each day - wish me luck!

My wife and I are doing pretty good. I am down 88 lbs since preop and my wife is down 76 lbs since preop. We have been in a slight stall lately but are just pushing on. I am at about maintenance weight but my wife still has a bit more to go. I also had to replace my entire wardrobe and just donated everything. I went from a 44 size pants to a 34. It's been quite an incredible and quick journey up until this point and I am still working on the head games that I know will persist for a long time.

Bufbills- great job!!!
Aroddy- I know what you mean- I feel sometimes like I’m racing against the clock. I still have over 60 lbs to lose to get to goal, and i know the farther out I get the harder it is. I have to get more consistent on exercise as well.
Mswillis5- you made maintenance! Congrats! Yes, the head games are real. I also feel like I didn’t understand the effort and expense of replacing all my clothing. I am confused about my size, what to buy, etc. A good problem but still daunting sometimes.

Thank you. It has been a journey but I got here a lot quicker than I thought. I am looking to lose just a bit more before I stop losing weight, but I think my body is going to regulate itself at this point. My wife is down almost 90 lbs and has about 50 lbs more before she hits maintenance, but she also wants to go quite a bit below that. We will see where our bodies want our weight to stop at.

It looks like you are also doing amazing with 113 lbs of weight lost. Congrats!

Thanks! About half of that was in the few months before surgery, but I’m counting it.

It’s true that our bodies have certain points they want to stay at. I feel like my body would love to settle around250ish so it was a bit of a struggle to get out of that range. Meanwhile I feel like I barely saw the 230s, I just flew right through those. I suspect I’m going to have another stall around 200. Historically it’s another set point my body has liked to sit at. But I’m looking to get to 165, so I’ll keep plugging away.

Ha, long shot but I’ll try. Anyone here now that we are hitting our one year anniversary? How’d everyone do? I lost a bit over 170 lbs, and am a normal BMI now.

I lost 92 lbs, but still not normal BMI.

I hope to loose about 30 lbs more, to reach normal BMI.

Still feel huge, and my brain do not understand the big change that just happend.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
