Day 2 pre-op, they are keeping me again overnight since my pain is really bad....the ab binder helps so much. I took it off for a bit last night and started having terrible muscle spasms. Drinking sips of Water and sucking on ice chips. Hoping to feel better tomorrow

It definitely gets better day 3. That’s when I turned the corner. Even though a week plus one day out I’m still a little sore. But day 3 was when I could kind of get my life together again. Hope you feel better soon!!!

Second day in ICU. They had complications and had to cut off the top half of my larger stomach and I had a leak. I'm not having nausea or vomiting and the invitation sites are door but not unbearable. What's killing me is the drain and my shoulder. I hear shoulder pain and issues before surgery and being in the Jesus pose on the hard table for five hours just killed it. Having to stay at least one more night and keep the drain in for a week ugh.

Glad you came through but sorry about the pain levels. I bought a binder but can't use it because I have a drain in the way. Bummer cuz I'd like to

Hi everyone! On post op day 3, and feeling super bloated. Getting the clears in is a struggle. Question to all of you - I was told I can start raking my blood pressure tablet again from today as a whole pill....seems a bit early? What’s everyone doing for their meds?

My doctor had me keep on one of my blood pressure meds, amlodipine. I have stopped everything else. They had me set up and appointment with my PCP before my one month checkup to review my meds.

My RNY surgery is Monday and I'm starting to freak out. My surgeon is one of the best and I'm relatively healthy otherwise so I have no real reason to worry.

I had an abdominalplasty (tummy tuck) to remove skin and fix diastasis rectis (separation of an muscles) five years ago. I've also had multiple orthopedic surgeries (hockey) ansnmy gall bladder removed so it's not the pain I'm worried about, pain I got lol. But because of the previous abdominal surgery I'm worried there will be too much scar tissue inside and not enough skin to "blow up my stomach cavity" and have to have an open, which is such a longer harder recovery.

I guess I'm curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation? It seems everyone's recovery is so varied - some people are miserable and some are fine in days. I work from home in publishing and research so planned to work a few days after surgery (deadlines wait for no man lol)

Check Amazon-they sell post-op binders that have openings for the drain. The binder really helps speed recovery and saves a lot of pain if you cough or sneeze the first two weeks.

I’m freaking out too. Not because of the surgery but because I’m scared of the pain. I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance but who knows- this could be the time it’s different.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
