Surgery is tomorrow

Recommended Posts

So tomorrow is the big day. I am a bag of emotions now. Excited, happy, anxious, stressed and hesitant at the same time. As much as I know that this is going to be the best thing I can do for myself, I feel as if I am losing part of myself. food has always played a major role in my life. I love to cook and barbeque. Well everyone wish me luck.

Best wishes! Your relationship with food will change and it will be better!!! You will still cook and BBQ, but it will be healthy. Right now your relationship with food is a dysfunctional one. It is not helping you. Once it becomes a real partnership, it will be fun and exciting, and without the guilt and remorse. You are not losing a part of yourself - you are discovering a whole new you! Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

Good luck. :D You will do great and will still BBQ etc just make wiser food choices and only eat small amounts. The way I got past that feeling was that if I could still just have 1 teaspoon of my fave Indian foods then that would be enough, I would still get all the amazing flavours but not need to eat enough for 2 people every time I ate Indian food!

I am 5 weeks out and can confirm that I can tolerate chilli and other spices so it is allllllllllllllllll good for me haha!

Also, I have noticed I can now watch food shows on tv, or youtube and not feel the need to go and stuff my face because watching them made me hungry, it is actually a miracle and I am enjoying family cooking without trying to everything as I cook.

A new you is yet to emerge and yeah you will have to adjust but you will be on earth longer now to get used to them and enjoy them AND still enjoy feeding others with your cooking :D

Best wishes and a speedy recovery!

You must be having your surgery about now, soon you will be out and in recovery. I think we all worry over our connection to food and how it relates to our everyday life. My husband is still doing all the cooking, but I can't wait to get back to it cooking healthier versions of my favorites. Last night I made a cup of broth and it was amazing! I actually made noise while drinking it, yummo. Best of luck on your journey and we look forward to hearing all about it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
