DEADWRONG got a reaction from Lynda486 in Water intake and outflowI drink close to a gallon of water a day and I realize that I don't have to go nearly as often. On the bright side of things is I never wake up in the middle of the night to go. So I take the good with the bad.

DEADWRONG reacted to TexasMommy80 in No pizza for 4-5 months???This is uncalled for. I am sorry, but I am tired of people on the site being judgemental. Let's be honest, if you think you will go the rest of your life without eating a piece of pizza, or something that is unhealthy, you are not being realistic. The point of this surgery is to not punish you. You can eat healthy most of the time, exercise, and enjoy a piece of pizza once in a blue moon. We all have our favorite foods and if we can handle these foods in moderation, as part of a generally healthy diet, than that is ok. I would love to meet someone a year out that has not had anything unhealthy, or one of their favorite foods. At 9 months out, I am almost at goal, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly. And you know what? I have had a ice of pizza! I've had a few pieces of chocolate even! And...my doctor is ok with that because he knows what is realistic and what is not.

DEADWRONG reacted to Torriluv02 in Pop cornI waited oh God probably almost a year before i started experimenting with popcorn. But then that opened the flood gates lol. I can eat a crap ton of it now in one sitting so it's on my naughty list. I don't have bypass but i do get sick if i eat too much sugar or fat in one sitting. Sometimes i feel like an overload of carbs and sugar in one sitting makes me sick so i try to limit it. But popcorn so long as its not dripping in butter is cool for me. My fiance made some homemade popcorn with salt a little butter and freshly grated parmesan mixed in. Omg. Sinful. But yeah. Give it time. You should be fine.

DEADWRONG reacted to Brent701 in Desert substitutesNobody ever got fat eating a cookie once in a while. They got fat eating the whole box. Gues you know which camp I am in . I fully believe those that quit cold turkey are major relapse risk.

DEADWRONG reacted to HappyHikerGal in Cold Feet, My Lightbulb MomentI'm a month out from VSG surgery and yesterday had a severe bout of second-guessing myself.
Is it crazy to cut your stomach to lose weight? Am I making this decision in haste? My family aren't fully on board, but are supportive of my decision - am I right to go through with it anyway?
All these questions running through my mind made me feel quite low, and I sought some answers, did more research on VSG, why people have it, why it is effective, etc. That helped, but it wasn't the complete answer.
I realized today, that my deepest fear with such an important surgery is that I will fail like every single other time I tried to lose weight. That my family will see me fail again. That one thought is a ball and chain around my neck that is holding me back from fully believing in myself on this incredible new adventure I'm about to embark on.
Then I realized something important. That my past can either be a crippling weight on my shoulders, or I can choose to examine what I've learned from all of those dieting experiences and turn that wisdom into rocket fuel to propel me into a new healthy life, with the help of this proven surgical tool. I have to see my past as a source of positive wisdom. Like Thomas Edison, I've learned a 1000 different ways in which it doesn't work, but I will keep trying until I eventually find the one way that does. It's not a lightbulb, but my only one precious life. I'm worth the effort to examine those past experiences and mine every little bit of wisdom I can find, with love, humility, and excitement for the future.
So, I'm feeling much better about this.

DEADWRONG got a reaction from mparadise4098 in Surgery is tomorrowSo tomorrow is the big day. I am a bag of emotions now. Excited, happy, anxious, stressed and hesitant at the same time. As much as I know that this is going to be the best thing I can do for myself, I feel as if I am losing part of myself. Food has always played a major role in my life. I love to cook and barbeque. Well everyone wish me luck.

DEADWRONG reacted to Bastian in Surgery is tomorrowGood luck. You will do great and will still BBQ etc just make wiser food choices and only eat small amounts. The way I got past that feeling was that if I could still just have 1 teaspoon of my fave Indian foods then that would be enough, I would still get all the amazing flavours but not need to eat enough for 2 people every time I ate Indian food!
I am 5 weeks out and can confirm that I can tolerate chilli and other spices so it is allllllllllllllllll good for me haha!
Also, I have noticed I can now watch food shows on tv, or youtube and not feel the need to go and stuff my face because watching them made me hungry, it is actually a miracle and I am enjoying family cooking without trying to everything as I cook.
A new you is yet to emerge and yeah you will have to adjust but you will be on earth longer now to get used to them and enjoy them AND still enjoy feeding others with your cooking
Best wishes and a speedy recovery!

Here is the list I made preop, my weight loss bucket list as it is:
1. cross my legs - check! I love crossing my legs now and do it all the time!
2. sneeze without peeing - condition has improved greatly
3. rock climbing - haven't tried yet, kinda forgot it was on my list
4. run a 5k - currently training and looking for a race
5. be comfortable wearing shorts and not just capris in summer - check! I never used to wear shorts, but now I have 3 in my new size and only one pair of capris
6. buy a swimsuit that doesn't have a skirt - check!
7. waterski again - gotta get to the lake this summer to knock this one off
7. Sex. More energy for it, more fun positions to try - DOUBLE CHECK!
Some bonus things: I like being able to pop myself up to sit on counters, I can sit on the floor without hurting my hips, I can buy a much bigger variety of shoes because I no longer need wide widths. Unfortunately I'll need to replace all my wide calf boots because they look ridiculous on me now.
