yes because of my gastritis ,stomal stricture and multiple ulcerations. Will I ever get to drink caffeine again? Doubt it strongly!☕

A Side: No meditation today because it's trainer day at the gym and that is the total opposite of meditating! lol! But yoga on Saturday!

B Side: I was told to avoid caffeine until I was able to get in at least 72oz of non-caffeinated Fluid, and then I could have a cup or so a day. Just ensure I was hydrated well before I added in caffeine. I drink a few cups of hot tea during the work week now (6 months out). As long as I stay hydrated, I don't think it's a huge concern if I go a cup or two over. I don't drink caffeine on the weekends... but I need some tea to get me through the workday some days.

I use an app (Calm) to meditate almost every night before bed.

B side: I think my initial guidelines were similar to Mousecat. Avoid it the first 2 weeks, then as long as you weren’t having trouble getting 64 oz a day in, caffeine was fine. I was drinking coffee within 2 weeks with no problems.

I have never really got into meditation (I definitely have a monkey mind) but I have the Headspace app and I'm going to give it a go today.

As for the B side question, I was told no caffeine for a year, IIRC. I have had a few sips of Diet Coke here and there but I don't miss it. I do miss sweet tea though, the syrupy kind we Southerners are known for. I let myself have a small sweet tea once a month, it's my treat instead of pastries or chocolate.

Hmm, reading other responses I think I might be wrong about my doctor saying no to caffeine for a year. But I don't drink coffee so I didn't really pay attention I guess. :)

May Day #9:

  • 10 pushups...done (half-heartedly)...i think i have a cold and feeling blah. I know my pushups were bad form, but still wanted to do them, do i did.
  • Meditate: not really into meditation, except for like 2-3 minutes after yoga classes (which btw, i’m hopIng to get to tonight, if i don’t fall asleep)

B-side: i was told no caffeine at first, then after my 1 month follow-up, I was given all clear to drink it up. Though I don’t drink much of it anyway.

P.S. This morning went to the mall to replace a beloved hoodie because I’m swimming in the one I have been using. And its come to this: ended up buying a Child size Large because the Ladies small was too big. What is happening???

Day 9 - meditation
I've never been one for meditation, but I've been a little curious about the different apps to help. I'll spend some time today checking them out.

B-side - caffeine post-op? My RD hasn't really said much about it, but then she knows I usually only have coffee once or twice a week at most. Mostly, I use it as a laxative... drink one cup and an hour later I'm as happy as a lark.

Only for the first month - six weeks but not because of caffeine. Because of the acidity. Same as why I couldn’t do fruits (other than bananas)

Day 9) meditation. I REALLY need it but haven’t done any yet. Today and tomorrow are going to be stressful getting my mom ready for her Drs appointment tomorrow . Bathing, hair washing , etc today and tomorrow just the physicality of actually getting her there, into the office and and home. So much we take for granted! It seems like such a small thing, doesn’t it? Drs appointment , no big deal 🥴
I think I’m going to check out that Calm app as well. It’s one of the top suggestions in Apple health.

Day 9. Ok 10 push ups completed and a 5 minute meditation via Calm.

Bside - I was told no caffeine initially. Then we were allowed to have 1 caffeinated beverage a day provided we were getting our fluids in. That was about a month post-op. Mostly, I've been decaffeinated. And coffee....that means sugar and cream to me so I haven't been having any...but tea has always been my favorite.

It is expensive. If you get a free trial make sure you check out the master classes. The two I found really helpful were mindful eating and pillars of health. I mostly use the sleep stories to help me fall asleep. Matthew Mcconaughey narrates one that knocks me out in 5 minutes.

My son uses headspace and he likes that one, I’ve never tried it.

I have ADHD and an advanced monkey mind, the app does help me chill.

Day 10: Tomorrow is yoga day, D*MMIT! lol!

I did 10 on-my-knees pushups yesterday at the gym. I can do pretty much everything just fine except darn pushups. Bah.

Day 10. I went to a yoga class that was more advanced than I am, but I hung in there.

Had a really good week overall, looking forward to the weekend.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
