Recommended Posts

Okay here I am-May4th- 224 pounds, gone into 20s nearly ready for 18s after starting out in 28-30W, sweats were 4x mens.
My May plans- stay true to my diet- it is getting boring after 8 months, but I will keep on keeping on. To see how much loss I can achieve in these 31 days, walk and exercise more since weather better, keep a Good outlook,be friendly to all, I would like to be 210 by June First but I will love me,treat me with respect, even if I'm not that low. No tears,no fears, that's all behind me. Speaking of behinds I don't have much ,This Baby may have had Back, but now I am barely rounded, Yippee Skipee for Me!

I'm not into camping... I'll go out to a campsite for the day to hang out with my family, but then I like to head home, sleep in my own bed, and have a nice hot shower to wash off the campfire smell :). As for bears, I hear ya... bears and mountain lions are always a possibility if we head an hour or two west. Although, my scariest camping experience was an 8yo, I was trapped in a campground outhouse by a flock of wild turkeys, with my little sister who was terrified of the outhouse. Very traumatic 🤣

Yep! These sorts of events can have life long impacts. Some other kid told me at Girl Scout camp that snakes and raccoons live in the bottom of outhouses. To this day I’m still leery even though I know it’s highly improbable 😱

Snakes I can concede, but our Ohio raccoons have been known to get on the back of dogs in the river and drowned them. They may be cute from a distance and that's where I want them to stay! I would be,more worried about skunks in outhouses. And I was once trapped in my Grandma's,outhouse by a flock of attack geese, glad she finally shooed them away, wanted to turn the lead one into a Christmas Roast Goose!

I’ve had the grandkids the last couple of days but I did manage to
2) make some art (adult coloring books count, right?)
3) watch a performance . I LOVE movies so I’ll take that as my performance . Most recently watched Passengers. Was pretty good imho
4) early night . I used to be a night owl but with grandson living with is it’s just not a possibility. Last night I was ready for it to be bedtime at 7:30 but I held off til a respectable 9:30 or so. Then elderly dog had a rough night and woke me up to go outside every two hours. Thank God he still makes it outside though, so no complaints!
I haven’t been doing the push ups but I have been doing lots of arm work on weight machine. It’s amazing to me how much more active I’ve become and how much more I WANT to do!!!

Went to the pavilion in town last night and watched the high school jazz band for a bit.

Skipped the gym yesterday but did 2 sets of eliptical at home. I’m heading out to the gym today, then going for a walk since it’s so nice out here.

I’m making chicken lettuce wraps tonight. Has anyone here cooked with Peanut Butter powder? I’m thinking about adding it but I’m a little reluctant since I’ve never used it.

Tonight I’ll go to bed early and watch a sappy movie in bed.

May Day #4:

  • 5 regular push ups: done, I really tried to do these properly, and i went down as low as I could and almost couldn't do the last one. I think I liked it better when I was doing them wrong...😜 Though it looks we are having a reprieve from the raining weather right now, so am going to try to go for a super-sized version of my daily walk since I missed yesterday.
  • Make it an early night: Not tonite...having friends over for a little dinner party later and will likely not hit the hay until maybe 1 or 2. I can make up for it by sleeping waaaaay in tomorrow, does that count? LOL

From a very young age (under 2yo I think) I have been very phobic about birds... anything with feathers and anything that flies as I often say. They freak me out the way some folks are scared of spiders or heights. The good news is, I can handle all kinds of creepy critters, so long as they don't fly.

Late as usual.

Hey y'all! Happy May.

So here are my stats >>>

Surgery: April 8th, 2019

Weight at surgery: 262

Current weight (as of may 1st): 247.6

End of May Goal weight: enter the 230's. I will even take 239.9😊

My hopes for this month are to stay consistent, stay accountable, and stay active.

I will continue to log my food and Vitamins in MFP everyday.

I would like to increase my 'step goal' number to 12k every day on my Fitbit.

I would like to start from couch potato to 5k by the end of the month.

I would like to shave two minutes off my walking mile.

I would like to meditate 3 days a week.

I can relate. I love birds and have had a few as pets and as much as I wanted to teach them to sit on my finger or talk I couldn’t take them being out of their cage. I blame my gramma for letting her parakeets fly around the house and the movie BIRDS didn’t help 😂😂😂

Somewhere I found a great Thai sauce using PB2 powder (might’ve even been from a fellow user on here). It was very easy and good. If I remember correctly it was basically pb2 and soy but you’d have to google. Other than that my experimenting with pb2 has been Protein smoothies, energy balls and to dip my apples or celery in. But I DO love it !!!

found one similar to the one I tried and she is using it on chicken lettuce wraps but I left out chopped peanuts

B-Side Questions:
Still own Vinyl, 8-track, Cassettes or CDs?
No vinyl or 8-track, although I remember them fondly. I still own one cassette, that has lived in my junk drawer for years and years, a friend's demo tape that I will never part with, even though I have no way to play it. And I still have a few cds... although more audiobooks than music CD.

Only cds anymore but even those hardly get played anymore. It’s usually always my playlists through my phone, even in my car

Hi. Can't do an early night tonight but I usually go early these days -maybe tomorrow. Did 5 pushups though.

Bside. All but the 8 tracks. I used to have a few. I think of my music as part of my personal history and still enjoy it. My books too.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
