I didn't buy any special plates. I did get a set of bariatric silverware on Amazon to help curb my "big bite" tendencies. I also bought an extra set of collapsible measuring cups to keep in my desk for when I to go back to work. Good luck today!

I have two boys 31/2 years old and 19 months old baby how long will it take for me to recover to be able to take care of my babies with no help :-( I am having a hard time with my support system

Tough call. I was definitely up and about right away after surgery. But its kinda like recovering from a c-section -- you aren't supposed to lift more than 10 lbs. When I got home, I had to pace myself, but still helped around the house with cooking and dishes. I fold laundry, but don't carry the laundry basket. Is your 19 month old in a toddler bed? Can you change them on the floor? Do you have any childcare options so you can rest?

I had no issues with the stairs in my house, but I don't carry anything when I go up and down.

Surgery is tomorrow! I have a butt ton of laundry to do, and cleaning. And I’m still laying in bed. I’m so tired. This liquid diet is kicking my butt.

Prayers for a great surgery and recovery :)

Hi Siblings! I’m three days post-op and I’m still struggling with gas pain (especially when I lay down to sleep). I walk a lot when I’m awake; I make sure to do things for myself like grabbing my Soups, meds, and other things independently. My incisions are VERY itchy and a bit painful. I’ve had to stay with meds around the clock. My shoulders, back, and neck are very sore; I’ve been using a heating pad on those. I’m able to get in a little over 8 oz of liquid in an hour... going to bump it up a bit today and tomorrow, just to make sure I can meet my liquid and Protein goals. No nausea or vomiting, no serious hunger urge, and no feelings of regret 😊

While my date for this second try at surgery put me on July 1st, I’m still going to keep in touch with my June buddies. Creatine came down significantly. Cleared this time for sure.

Glad you are hanging in there. That first week really sucks. My surgical glue is finally starting to flake off -- I hear you on being itchy.

So glad you are doing great and are ready to go. You are always going to be a honorary June member, anyway. :)

Good luck to you, go get 'em!!!

Today is day 4 out of surgery. I am finally feeling up to doing things. The gas pain is going away, and I am on just Tylenol. Also, warm/hot liquids are my new friends!

They told me children’s liquid. It goes down a lot easier than the 1/2 Tylenol pills. I just got the Target brand. I calculated what would be equivalent to 1,000mg. I believe I am slightly under that total. I take it 4 times a day.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
