Weight has increased (expecting that this week)163-ish today ,was 167 yesterday lol -can't trust scales but i used a Walmart scale (well opened a fancy one and used it lol- don't judge me) to calculate my body fat which is 27.6%

Anyone know what's a reliable ideal body fat calculator? Can seem to find one on the web that doesn't contradict another...

This one seems accurate as it requires tape measurements as well.

I tried that one and a few others, I think the scale I used runs on the YMCA modified body fat calculator (this one is Naval, there are about 4 additional calculator types?) They all give a range of answers... Sometimes I'm obese, overweight and healthy. Don't know which one should matter the most... Of course I want to pick it overweight because it matches my BMI but IDK...

What system is everyone else using?

I haven't been using one. My docs office is some professional grade Tanita with a print out and they use that. But hell's maybe I need to run and do mine now?!! Do you have the link for the YMCA one as well as this? (Haven't clicked the link yet--thanks @Matt Z!)

The Hell!!!

It says at 159.2lbs and 5'4", 56, female, 13" neck, 31" waist, 41" hip, that my body fat % is 59.8% and that I'm in the obese category still???? ALL kinds of crying over here, cuz I think my doc's office is like 33% fat maybe? :( :57_cry::57_cry: @GreenTealael what are your numbers that you are using please and what does it show for BF?

SHEW!!!! DFU Error!!!! So apparently, if they ask for feet, they expect you to express your measurements in feet/inches (so strange)!!! So I re-input stuff in those terms and it comes out about what my doc's office shows: 32.7%, still in the obese range to be sure, but not as sad as 60% fat! That's a WHOLE lot of fat after all this hard work! LOL.

The scale I used said 27% which lined up with the YMCA modified calculator, not the Naval one which says "give up" lol

I used this site also which had all of the calculators.

I don't have calipers. Do you think I can use a monkey wrench and then measure the distance between the jaws? :P

Measuring tape, there is an option to choose which method in one of the boxes

Oh doh! I missed the measuring tape selection! So they measure the waist 2 inches above the belly button and I have been tracking mine at the belly button. 2" above is actually the curve or smallest part of my waist.

Ok, so here's my print out: (click to enlarge)

All of these numbers seem pretty preposterous if you ask me. Maybe I'm just measuring incorrectly?! It's easier to accept the USNavy one or the BMI one, that it is for me to believe any of the other ones. Meh...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
