Bites just Ain't Right, don't want a man into cannibalism. willing to 've Sweet but only from a distance. After you've been bit, beaten and brutalized it gets a bit much, and you don't want to know how I know!

This is how fucked up the scale is. So yeah you know I've got a cold. @GreenTealael gave me her's I'm sure. Thanksnotthankful. And yesterday I reverted to old behaviors using that as an excuse--I feel like crap, so I'm gonna take the day off of everything and play hooky. And I did nothing more than drink hot green tea, hot coffee, watch the Hallmark channel and nap. I also ate and ate and ate--some good stuff--some bad stuff like Peanut Butter and pita chips (damn you Lex Luther, come get your damned pita chips-yes! They are STILL here from my birthday hijinx! And I haven't been able to muscle the will to throw in the trash and pour dish soap over them. They sing to me at night. Me=massochist). And also leftover white rice and Chinese delivery. *le sigh* Didn't even track foods cuz it would be too gruesome for words! UGH! I even ate at midnight last night (seafood gumbo with white rice) and had 3 SF chocolate assorted candies (which I NEVER do)!!!

And this morning I cowboy-up and step on the scale prepared to see me weigh 165lbs or some shenanigans. And the scale is down to 159.2 from the previous day--when I ALSO ate like crap, but this time, basically ate popcorn...

scales are stupid and can't be trusted

(also don't be alarmed if it bounces up in a few days even though you are perfect on plan. I'm beginning to notice that energy conversion and weight reflecting it takes some time to show up... I should look into it)

Yeah. It's not unusual for me to see it 2-3 days out. So I'm not recording my weight again until I'm over the cold. :) Especially since the sf cough drops and sf candies tend to affect my blood sugars (or at least then did pre-op). This is the first time trying since surgery. I'm eating about 4-5 of either sf cough drops or sf cinnamon drops right now. And I do think they wake up my hungry and desire to "feed." :(:angry: *annoyed* But I'm trying not to make myself crazy.

The great news about being with you guys (see @Matt Z), is that I'm building a little confidence that I can f**k up and get right back in the game with my head, eating, and exercise. I honestly didn't see that one coming. And I'm sure it's delaying my progress, but I don't think it's so significant that it's gonna add months or years to goal. I think it might add weeks though. But I'm trying to get my head out of Crazy Town and think in terms of life plans...of course that could also be major rationalization goin' down round heah too. :(

Ok, y'all feeling better this morning. I will "will" myself better or die trying-- roflmao! Walking really helped yesterday. I didn't want to do it-but once I was actually walking, I felt like living. Yay team! The month is winding down. I began IF on 9.3 and will just close out September with short numbers. But it looks promising, although I am concerned about the Protein amount which went down from last month while fats and carbs went up.

Today is a 16/8 day, but with 3 meals to it--eating to satiety. No tellin what it will be. I know Soup will be one of those meals and probably some yogurt/cottage cheese/pbpowder/berries/Fiber One cuz it sounds good to me. Beyond that, dunno bout dinner.

Oh @GreenTealael and @Matt Z I ordered some matcha yesterday. So do you use it in place of green tea bags or in addition to them? I'm also gonna try making the turmeric paste to have on hand.

Use it in place of, Matcha *IS* green tea, just powered so that you get all parts of the leave and not just the Water soluble part when making the tea.

Thanks @Matt Z. So does it need to have flavor added to it? Will it taste grassy like my green tea infusions? Sorry to be so toopid bout this stuff. LOL. I'm thinking that the green tea may be helping my metabolism. Yay!! So far I'm loving 1bag of green tea with 1bag of bigelow peach or any of the Celestial Seasonings flavors or with the Lipton Decaff apple cinnamon and also Twinning Breakfast Tea. (These are all teas I had in hands--haven't bought any new yet beyond the matcha.) TY!

I say make a cup as per the directions before you start adding things for flavor etc. It does taste different, hard to describe (and the quality of the matcha changes things as well)

Hello! :)

Been MIA, crazy busy work and travel schedule!

Sorry you're not feeling well @FluffyChix, hopefully the walking and Matcha will get it all beat!

Not much to report here. Have done IF when possible. Had 2 breakfast meetings this week, so not those days. My food choices have been both good and bad. I'm counting the small victories like not eating the Andes mints that were left on my pillow. :P

The scale is holding steady at 153.2, the same as Tuesday morning, my last weigh in. It's .5 lbs up from my low of 152.6.

I don't think IF alone works for me as a weight loss tool. Maybe because I had inadvertently done IF for a lot of my life? I've never been a breakfast eater, so I naturally have a long fast. Unless I have reasons to eat in the morning, like brunch plans or meetings, etc..

I have some dinner plans this weekend. Nothing to prevent me from doing IF. Making good choices is the much bigger struggle.

Next few weeks are going to be a b*tch! Solid travel, even gone one weekend, with only an overnight home to repack. Lots of meetings, meals, wining and dining. Weekend with a girlfriend and Mai Tai's. There will be a trade show with every type of junk food imaginable. Then straight into my gelato, Pasta & wine vacay.

I'd really, really like to start dropping weight again. Although my choice haven't all been good, my cals have been well under 1000 (yay restiction). So I'm hoping this is a stall ... but still scared if it's not.

We've missed you but totally understand--you have a life...Newsflash! :D (Can I buy one? LOL) But seriously, your schedule sounds exciting, fast paced and fun, but oh so scary larry! I get why you're concerned!!! I've no idea how/what I would do in your situation. Your life revolves around decadent and celebratory foods!!!

I agree that IF alone doesn't make me "eat less" or make me "make better choices." But, what it does do is makes it easier to limit my daily intake. Since I can eat so much, that's especially important. I still can't eat as much as I could pre-surg--but still...I can do calorie damage if I put my mind to it, with relative ease. And you are placed in that position almost daily! GOSH!! ((hugs))

I think IF may also have some hidden, behind the scenes benefits with hormone regulation that helps us process the foods we do eat. My numbers are showing this...I will post those at the end of the month. So maybe, the IF, along with your making "thinking" smart choices as often as possible, will do what it needs to do and allow you to keep losing weight? I think of IF as kinda "doing the job" that most natural skinny people do for themselves without thinking. Like if I know I'm gonna have a huge dinner of calories and wine, I would be abstemious the rest of the day so the cals balance out. Instead of like I used to do where my rationale would be..."Oh I'm having an ass-buster meal tonight, the day is tanked, might as well go have a huge brekky and pound a Big Mac and fries at lunch since I'm splurging today." So the insult would be compounded by 3. :)

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
