Purée do’s and dont’s

Recommended Posts

So I’m almost 3 weeks out. Tried can chicken and it like stayed in the back of my throat so I’ve stayed clear of it. But I’m having trouble with Protein Shakes and my bowels so I want to eat my Protein verses drinking it. I’m eating cheese nips with hummus with no problem but idk if I should even be eating those crackers...I don’t even know what to eat that’s different from the liquid diet I’m on. Positive feed back only please

Maybe try soft scrambled eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, refried Beans. All are recommended during my upcoming puree phase. Good luck!

THIS!!!!! and my plan had me do LOW-FAT, FAT-FREE and sugar free this early on. Search pinterest for ideas, type puree phase bariatric diet or just bariatreic diet. You'll find tons of suggestions. Last thing, maybe try using powder Protein and make your own shakes. You can regulate how thick or thin they are and you can add things like fresh or frozen spinach for Fiber and extra Vitamins. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Stop eating the cheese nips! Your doctor should have you on a sugar and fat free liquid diet. Have you tried premiere Protein? It taste a lot better than most shakes. I started out with powder and had to switch because it taste so bad. Some ideas to help you with liquid phase are sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, and cream Soups that are fat free and strained so it’s just the liquid. That should help tremendously! GOOD LUCK! P.s use skim milk to make your Soup creamier and do not be afraid to season your soup to make it taste better. Broths help too!!

I will be discharged Thursday after surgery today straight to purees. I dont think its necessary to go back to liquids if your plan recommends puree. I do agree that the cheese nips should go though!

What powder did you use so I know to stay away from it? I only tried vanilla premier but I did not like it at all. I'm not big on sweets though and found it way to sweet with a horrible aftertaste. My son who drinks them for working out loves them though.

I’m not on liquids anymore. Ives had all of theses already. I’m on puree now. Those of my struggles.

Have you reread your plan? I keep referring back to it every time I question my food choices. At 3 weeks out, purees - you should consider soft scramble, pureed chicken / fish - there are some amazing recipes on Pintrest that I know I can't wait to try. Also, pureed vegetables, I love cauliflower mash - I'm sure you could add some Protein Powder to increase your Protein intake with it. You can also now do more advanced Soups, pureed of course. I personally am looking forward to homemade bean Soup with veggies pureed of course.

Refried beans
Cottage Cheese
Soft scrambled eggs with shred cheese (mashed very very small and soft)
Greek Yogurt
Blended Soups
Egg salad with Greek yogurt
Mash potatoes (if allowed on your plan)
Blended veggies
Very soft and blended meatloaf

I kind of blended the soft and purred stage together because I'm really affected by texture of things. But a lot of what you can eat can be blended or mashed to give the purred consistency. Don't be afraid to reach back out to your NUT if you are unclear about what your plan allows.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
