That flatbread looks interesting. Do you have any idea of the brand?

No, I don't. It was surprisingly good though. Delta doesn't seem to publish the nutritional info on their meals. Probably because at least domestically, they change them up a lot.

You are more up to date than I am @jess9395, the last I had read was the $25K donation, not the rescinded call for boycott

Got it, thanks! I thought there might have been some discrimination or something like with Cracker Barrel!

Ha ha ... I had fully intended to getting something grilled chicken ... but then I saw they had these on the menu. They were discontinued locally ages ago, and were my favorite menu item. So, I just could. not. resist.

What's on that wrap that is 300 cals? Is the sliced turkey that high in cals or are you hiding the good stuff, haha? It looks like 2 slices, I would have thought way less than that. Looks good through. I might try deli meats, well turkey and chicken anyway. Love ham but can't imagine that's healthy.

It's turkey but you can't tell the amount by the way it's folded, it's roughly 2.75 servings (bird's-eye view is deceiving)

Hey can I play? I'm just starting week 2 of purees. Thought it could be helpful to someone to see how much I'm getting in these days. I had surgery 3 weeks and 1 day ago.

OK, the first one is an Acai bowl: greek yogurt, acai puree blended with tiny piece of banana, granola ground into dust with nutritional yeast and sprinkled on top.

Second is refried Beans with cheese and guac. I also like this with some mild enchilada sauce on top - I can't wait to get back to spicy!

Last group is meatless meatballs smashed together with nutritional yeast, marinara, and ricotta then topped with mozzarella cheese.

I'm three days post-op and was started on phase 2, pureed foods yesterday. Here are the two-tablespoonsful cups of food they have sent me for meals and how much I have eaten. It ranges from chicken and cream of asparagus Soup to turkey and cream of mushroom, and any combination of the two. The single cup is Lite n Fit Greek yogurt, vanilla flavor. I also get a chocolate Protein Shake with Breakfast and I'm using the empty 30ml cup to drink my portion of the shake. So far, so good...

Went to awards dinner for my bariatric group, very cool, and they prepared a dinner. This is cold leftovers because it was so good I had to take it home. Sweet and sour chicken, curried cauliflower, roasted brussel sprouts, there was more but I can't remember lol. The best part is that the surgeon, dietician, nutritionist and hospital chef planned the menu for bariatric patients, that mean I didn't have to worry about ANYTHING... sigh. No wonder why the won a women's choice award this year.

My pic does it no justice, I will eat this for the next two days, idc.

food I forgot to post, BBQish chicken and "cheesy" kale salad

Chicken from previous prep post

Wilted kale w/ nutritional yeast and Bragg's aminos is the dressing which oddly enough kind of makes a vegan cheese like sauce, huh.

This was two meals, no Afters lol

I'm 7 weeks out and I am over the moon this has been the first meal I was able to really eat. I made cauliflower fried rice with shrimp and chicken. Ps keep in mind it's a tea plate not a regular dinner plate.IMG-20180912-WA0006.jpeg 20180912_145741.jpeg

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
