Thank you and best wishes to you as well! I was ok with the hospital bed, but on the morning after my surgery, one of the nurse techs asked me if I wanted to sit in the recliner, and I said, "sure!" She lined it with a sheet and a pad, and moved the leg cuffs over to the chair for me. It was ok, but I didn't find it more comfortable than the bed. The main advantage was that it was easier to get up from, and I got up more often from the chair.

@Laura7 and @mercmerc I hope you both are doing well and free from complications. I convinced my surgeon to discharge me when he made his evening rounds yesterday. The main thing he was concerned with was that I could drink enough to get off of the IV fluids. I was up to 4oz per hour, so he gave me a stern talk about not "popping my pouch" by drinking too fast the first 3 weeks, then he let me go. It's good to be home.

I barely stayed in bed, i was in the recliner or walking then when I tried to get in bed at home, it was horrible.. i slept on the couch, cause its more comfortable, my gas pains are tolerable now, but still a bit hurting im so happy that all my girlies are okay!! Wishing all of us a speedy recovery

Good to hear you made it out! He meant rupturing the staple line before it has healed. It's pretty rare, but serious enough to be 100% fatal if not treated fast enough with emergency surgery. Basically, he said to stop drinking if I get a feeling like bread is stuck in my throat. Take small sips, and wait about 5 seconds between sips to see if I get any "I'm full" feedback before taking the next sip.

I hope everyone is recovering well from surgery? I had mine done on Friday, home Sunday. Working hard at keeping up Water and liquid diet. Everything seems to be going well apart from this horrid pain on left side. It comes and goes in waves. Nurse said it is gas and healing, need to keep walking and deep breathing. I have to say I am quite exhausted and could easily sleep a lot! but going to try and get moving today. How is everyone else getting on? would love to hear

Omg same. Really bad pains in the left side and now up my back shoulder. Taking meds. burping a lot, etc. My surgery was 2 days ago on 7/30, just can't wait to get healed up and be out of this "pain"stage. Im exhausted too I want to sleep ASAP. Choking down the meds liquid tylonal with codiene is YUCK!

I’m so glad to hear @Poppygirl that you’re doing well. Yeah I’ve been passing loud gas lol and burping and walking unfortunately had to go out two days which was Sunday and Tuesday for groceries but I’m doing better. I’m just trying to get all my Vitamins in and my medicine that fights against gallstones... I also have to take my blood thinner for 14 days and so far so good... I ordered a scales can’t wait til it come tomorrow and see how much I’ve lost. I left Hospital on purée food stage for two weeks and then I go for my first check up next Tuesday

You too NurseSmiley80 xx. Wow you sound like to are doing way better than me! I haven't left the house yet...am i being over cautious? Are you back to normal activities now?

How come you left on puree stage and not liquids? you sound like you are doing amazing! What meds are you taking against gallstones? would love to know as most certainly do not fancy having my gallbladder removed?
