I did that this week with Lean Cuisine for lunch. That is what got me to thinking about Nutrasystem. I might just stick with this for a while and see how it goes.

The problem I find with Lean Cusine and those other frozen pre-packaged foods is that they all seem very high in carbs. I am still at the stage where my doc wants me to keep my carbs low.

just sent - btw, i can never cook cabbage w/out my big lab moaning; think the smell bothers him:)

I'm with your lab! P.U.!

Oprah's show today is about cooking more inexpensively. I'm guessing the recipes will be on her webbysite. They showed a family that ordered in for over $50 versus cooking was <$18.

A family can eat fairly inexpensive and healthy if you know what you're doing. I start upping the costs because I have to put something extra in everything... I have to overdo it just cuz.

I have 3 shelves in 1 cupboard for just spices and 2 cupboards above the stove... It's ridiculous.

I suck at recipes though because I start to follow it and next I know I am creating something else.

I will follow a recipe the first time. After that, I will change it based on my family's reaction, or if I thought it was missing something. I have a bad habit of combining recipes, sometimes with pretty good results.

I try not to buy the ones with Pasta or rice in them. That pretty much cuts what I will buy in half. My doctor does say Protein first, but he doesn't really say low or no carb. I have been eating some carbs (I'm sure that is why my weight isn't going away as fast as I would like), but trying to not have an all out carb fest (like I would have before banding).

The cooking tidbit was definitely for y'all. I'm not much of a cook!

Truthfully, if I only had to cook for myself, I would probably cook everyday. I can't experiment on my family the way that I would for just me. You could go wild with recipes just cooking for yourself. You should try it.

lucky girl im green with jealousy...i tried to make a booty call last night damn pilot boy is to much of gentleman for his own good..

Girl, you are a s l u t, bless your heart.

I experiment all the time. My DH seems to enjoy most of it. My DS is a stick but a very healthy eater so will eat most anything. My DD, on the other hand, won't eat anything but PB&J sandwiches, chips, hamburgers and chicken nuggets. We have a rule that she has to take at least one bite of everything at the dinner table and after that if she still doesn't want to eat it, then she can have a PB&J. She did eat mussels and enjoyed them a great deal when we went to Carrabas the other day so maybe she's finally graduating up?

My doctor wants me to keep carbs under 100 (or was it 50? I know it was under 50 during my pre-op diet... note to self, ask doc tomorrow). So at least it's not NO carbs, but I find that I really don't eat rice or potatoes anymore and bread only when I go out if it comes to the table -- so it's rare.

DS was like that except he won't eat Peanut Butter. Now he is the human vacuum. He inhales it all (I often ask if he even bothered to chew:huh2:). He will eat anything once (except if he knows it has cheese). He isn't even 12 yet, so I am scared of my grocery bills for the next few years.

Sounds like my 28 year old husband. I curse his father for not developing his palate beyond that rubbish as a child and teenager because it means I am restricted in the food I can cook at home for the two of us. If we eat out, he gets his rubbish food and I get to indulge in something with a bit of flavour. Keep trying to get her interested in other flavours/textures, you never know she might try something "exotic" one day and it will unlock her desire to experiment a little!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
