Shbunni - I’ve heard that the weight loss continues but is not consistent week to week. You can go from nothing loss one week to 5lbs loss the next week. Just keep following your plan and be patient. Also, have you been cleared to start exercising?

I go back tomorrow for my 1st Post Op appointment. I have been walking 3 miles a day for the past week. Feeling no pain in my feet or knees. For that alone I am grateful.

Yes, I actually am having the opposite effect. I am overly sensitive to smells which is making the nausea worse.

Ok I'm an April 17th sleever and YES! Some smells make me gag and 2 times throw up and those were cigarette smoke! I used to a smoker, I was around smokers, I took me a long time to quit before my surgery (no lectures, please, I did it!) And now I will throw up if I smell cigarettes too long, which is an extra bonus deterrent, not that I ever plan to smoke EVER again, but still. And booze breath makes me gag.

Congratulations on quitting smoking, I know it’s very difficult. I was sleeved on April 18, 2018 and I’m finding that fried food smell and sugary bakery smells are making me nauseous

Interesting about the sugary bakery smells, at mine in the near future, what will set ME off? Fried bothers me already as well as rotisserie chicken and ribs.😒

I thought I was the only one having taste and smell issues! The smell of cooked food smells horrible! In fact, everything smells the same. Some things like eggs have a really off taste to me right now, but it feels ok on my stomach. I guess its not a bad thing because I'm not really wanting to eat. Does anyone know how long this lasts?

Man I wished food smelled awful! It all smells like heaven and I am stuck at the gates! :59_sleepy:

I was sleeved on April 27th - I had two days of a clear liquid diet prior to surgery then Clear Liquids two days after, and Protein Shakes and clear liquid for two weeks, today is my first day of soft Protein. I can have three ounces a day. So after 16 days of nothing solid I am eating a yogurt and it is divine!

Lost 19 pounds since surgery, I am pretty pleased at that--sometimes I feel like I should of lost more--compensation for pain and suffering. <_<

So yesterday I think between eating a little too much, maybe a little fast and also on the dry size. Well it wasn’t pretty. This is how you learn right?

In lighter news I added some egg white Protein to a blended soup...evidently when you heat it back up you basically get a very flavorful and tasty scrambled eggs.

I am down 44lbs have stalled twice broken the stall the same way EAT LESS and hit the cardio lol both times great results. I find that eating carbs and sweets causes my stalls so I’m sticking to liquid Proteins for Breakfast, solid proteins for lunch and dinner and lots of H2O...

hope everyone is remaining motivated theough there journeys!

Sleeved on 4/25 and I have lost 49 lbs. so far. I mostly eat twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day. Still trying to get all my Protein in.

Anyone using flavorless Protein Powder to mix with different foods? If so, what brands mix really well with everything and truly flavorless.

I do the same as AAsosa. When I hit a stall, turn down carbs and do an extra lap of walking. I’m down 40 lbs since surgery on 4/24.

I was sleeved on 4/16. so far so good. I have lost 50 lbs since surgery and almost 100 lbs since January. I have stalled once for a few days, but I just kicked up the cardio and got over that hump. I am trying to focus on getting all my Protein in and staying hydrated, which for me can sometimes be a challenge. a lot of times I feel like I can't drink enough Water.

I was sleeved on 4/27, I am in a vicious stall. Only 25 pounds so far and most of that was in the first two weeks. I am guessing it is because I am still under 600 calories, but I am still on two Protein Drinks a day and 3 oz of soft Protein so there is no way really to increase calories yet. Just has to wait it out, but it is hard to go through all of this and not see the results.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
