Nice.

Well one thing I do know. Ok, I know exactly three things.

The first thing I know for a fact is that I know exactly Jack sh*t.

The second thing I know is that I adore to baffle with bullsh*t.

The last thing I know, is when in doubt, I will absolutely pull sh*t outta my ass.

And what it all boils down to is I'm full of crap, and listen to my advice at your own peril. :D

That's not just you, Fluff....that's all of us:)

Ok, maybe not all of us.

(I fit your criteria, too.)

But like most people here ...I'm well intentioned when I try to impart my "wisdom" on the masses.

I guess I was just trying to say....take it all with a gain of salt (except you cause your ankles will swell!)....and look at all the collective experiences.

We're beautifully different....and very much the same.

Many different plans seem to work, yes. The only thing that seems like an absolute is that the people who succeed have a plan, execute it as best they can, track their results, and hold themselves accountable. Slip-ups here and there, sure. Differences in approach, you bet. Creekimp and I eat very differently, but what we share in common is a that we follow a plan and give it a lot of thought and consideration and put real effort into making sure we stay on track.

Occasionally, people will say some very pleasant sounding stuff about "not worrying about all those numbers" and "just using your best judgment" ...and I have to bite my tongue not to remind them their best judgment made them a seriously obese person who needed major surgery to get their weight under control. Notice also how many of the "I'm not getting results!" and "I'm backsliding!" posts indicate the same kind of lack of plan and "going by what feels right" approach. This is not a coincidence.

There are many different ways to do this right. But they all involve putting in effort and holding yourself accountable.

Lots of roads to the same destination, but to get there, you have to get going, stay in motion, and follow your own map.

This thread is so important. Just the same for those who do not have surgery. There are different ways of getting to “goal”.
I’m just happy to be here, having made it this far. I have no idea how things will progress or how far I will go, the important thing is that I’m getting there.

Aaah @Creekimp13, I want Alex to pin your post so that it is one of the first every newbie reads in perpetuity.

Unlike @FluffyChix I don’t pull much out of my arse - largely because these days it pretty much bursts out of its own accord. But you are right.

Having had gastric band failure and commenting on those threads sometimes I see it - people saying “is a band a good idea for me?” They get some “NO - mine was terrible, don’t get ever one, you’ll regret it” through to cautious “well, these days they are less popular with surgeons but some people get long lasting results” through to “mine is GREAT don’t listen to them, they have no willpower”. That must be confusing as hell, when you are seeking advice!

Unless we all remember we a people, seeking a community of others we have something in common with, giving hopelessly biased opinions based on our own body or brain responses.

If we all remembered that about other people here, we might see less of the indignant “she was mean to me!” responses, too!!

My plan is working for me. It is tracking what I eat and exercising. I have one day where I have a high carb count. Then the rest of the week I have a low carb count. This tends to work for me as I have the energy to complete my fitness goals.

There is not one way to measure success. Some it is being at a normal BMI, others it is reaching the muscle goals needed to be strong.

It all depends on what your goal is and how well you approach it.

Yes! I have been discouraged the past few weeks because it seems like a lot of people judging everyone else, when in reality, if we all had it figured out, we wouldn’t be here to begin with. One plan doesn’t work for everyone, and the key is finding what works for us.

Asking for advice on the internet is like someone in an improv troupe asking an audience member for a suggestion to kick off a bit. When presented a with multiple options they're going to get many of the same things called out each time (Starbucks! Donald Trump! Your mother!) and they'll pick the one that's the most unique and stands out.

The problem with looking for consensus advice on the internet is that it's not a valid sample and everyone replying only has experience with a sample size of one, hardly valid from a scientific or mathematical standpoint. Complicating things is that all of us have different bodies and physiologies, so even though we may display the same symptoms, the root cause could be completely different and require a different approach.

There is "One Answer" for everything though...

It's whatever works for you.

I noticed this, too! Which is why once I went back to soft food, I went back to logging because if "eyeing" stuff worked I wouldn't have needed a sleeve. I am still sort of amazed I can be sated on 800 calories but, when they aren't useless calories (junk food), well, that makes perfect sense. And today, I figured out how to get all my Protein in while drinking less of those sweet shakes (more creative use of my Unjury unflavored and chicken flavored powders).

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
