So I know there are things like stalls and everything but I am honestly annoyed with my body. I am 15 months out and should be used to this but I never am.

I know I was eating badly for a bit and did not lose anything for a few weeks.

I realized I was sabotaging myself and for the past 9 days I have been super strict on plan.

I cut out all carbs, and I had never even done that at all this whole time.

I've been eating on average 1150 calories a day.

I have increased my physical activity by going on my walks again and going to the gym.

I have not gone out to eat at all, only eating what I cook.

And what does my body do...it GAINS a pound and a half.

I'm so frustrated.

So incredibly frustrated.

I know a pound isn't a lot but it feels like a lot.

I just needed to vent to those who would understand.

This process doesn't make sense sometimes...

Stalls can be hard to accept. I just try to think like I am my body. My body was used to being in a certain weight range for a long time. Then I made a change. It went along with it for a while, then it said nope, I'm tired I quit. If I keep doing the same things it has no choice but to change.

What we are doing is a shock to most of our bodies and they are trying to fight back. This is going to be a life long thing unfortunately for most of us, maintain this weight so there isn't really a rush. Last year I felt a rush because I really wanted skin surgery, I got over those issues, and now I am in no rush. I am really glad I didn't rush to skin surgery because a year later my body looks better without plastic surgery than a lot of people look post-op.

You can't complain about this to non WLS people because they just feel like you should be happy to be X, and they don't really understand the frustration and pressure. At least I personally feel a lot of pressure to be successful because this cost so much money and time, and also my friend helped me by coming to be with me for surgery and I feel like if I fail I let everyone down.

Just keep doing what you are doing the weight will come off. You are also probably still dealing with Water retention and swelling from your skin removal, it takes 6 months to heal. Relax and keep going.

@OutsideMatchInside Thanks for replying. I also feel a lot of pressure to get to goal and succeed at this. I'm so scared of failing. I feel a lot of people are putting pressure on me too without meaning to.

I do feel like I'm trying to rush myself because I want other skin surgeries. I know some of my skin will snap back but after losing almost 300 pounds and when I get to goal I will have lost over 340 pounds, my skin won't ever fully snap back from that. I know I will need the surgeries and I just want to feel comfortable in my skin.

I have been going through periods of feeling so fat lately which doesn't make sense because I've lost so much weight and I'm not really gaining weight. It's such a hard process to deal with.

I'm glad I have all of you to help me in this process.

I have all of the feelings you have, but I have to remind myself that thin people have some of these same feelings. Everyone feels fat trying on jeans, lol. When I started wearing regular sizes and shopping in regular stores and hearing other women talk to each other about clothes and sizes I realized a lot of the things I was feeling other people were feeling too. that helps.

The loose skin I have makes me feel fat, well more accurately, it reminds me of how fat I let myself become in the past.

It is a constant reminder of my past mistakes and something I can't really hide. I also had to realize that even with plastic surgery I am never going to have the body of a person that wasn't as fat as I was. My body is always going to be different because of my previous weight. Realizing that, made me not feel so desperate for skin surgery. I really have to learn to be comfortable with myself and forgive myself for my past mistakes.

It is a long process.

I've been the same way. Haven't lost a pound since April. Gained about 6 or 7. I've been getting back to my routine. It took so long to gain those lbs, but I can see in my body how it isn't the same. Muscle weighs more than fat. Some of the gain could be that or offsetting what you could be losing in fat. I have come down 3 lbs this week with my continued exercise and discipline.

You've done incredible. 300 lbs. Whether you make it to 199 or not, you've accomplished more than most could hope for from the procedure.

I've been fluctuating between 172-176 for the last three months. Can't get below 172, but the way my clothes are fitting is changing. Today, I put on a pair of size 9 juniors Levis that were my daughters -- I haven't been this size since I was in high school 40 years ago. But I'm frustrated, too. I have my 1 year check up in a week and I'm my own worst critic, so I'm concerned that my team will be disappointed.

Work the plan. It will work. Be patient. You've got this.

Muscle is more dense than fat meaning a cubic centimeter of muscle is heavier than a cubic centimeter of fat. Muscle does weigh more than fat.

I'm also stalled again too so I feel your pain. So frustrating! I keep getting afraid I will stop losing. Only have about 30lbs to go. Definitely causes u to play mind games.

check out Dr. Duc Voung - Bariatric surgeon. Look him up on FB. He says not to work out after surgery. Explains a bit about the physiology etc. It goes against what we're told - but check out some of his videos/ advice. I had been stalled and pressuring myself at the gym to get out of a recent stall. When I listened to him-- reduce/ remove dairy, don't go to gym - my stall ended & 3.5 lbs vanished. Of course now I'm stalled again. But I think he has excellent advice. Good luck. Also, that sounds like way too few calories to me. I'm trying to stay focused on foods & nutrients and not calories.

I am in the same headspace... Pressure to succeed, frustrated with where I am even though I've made great progress, trying to hurry so I can get plastics. I never wanted to be 135 lbs. But now that I think about it, why not get the DS as the second part of the surgery. See if I can go all the way to a normal weight.

Have you considered a second surgery? I don't see many people post here about getting a second surgery until they have a large regain. Dr. Vuong just posted a video about treating regain and stalls aggressively.

Pixie, you are doing fabulously! I think those last few pounds have got to be the worst! Wear plenty of compression, and once you've spent the money on that, you'll want to get your use out of it .. which means any potential delay in surgery isn't such a bad thing. After the swelling from the future surgery goes down you will likely need smaller clothing. Which means more money.

See? It's all how you look at things...

So you are going to troll this member.... and just to make sure I get this straight... you are going to troll them based on an argument that muscle weighs more than fat?

This is just comical.

Look up the word 'weight'. A pound of X weighs the same as a pound of Y.

A pound of X may take up X space (mass), while a pound of Y may take up Y space (mass).

If you have two 250 pound people standing side by side, but they have clearly different masses does one weigh more than the other? Obviously not.

The scientific principle you are unsuccessfully grasping for is density, which is the relationship of mass to weight.

5th grade science lesson for the day, you're welcome!

LOL What??

I've been reading this forum for a long time, and OutsideMatchInside is one of the few remaining members on this forum who actually know what they are talking about. This forum is full of newbies and misinformation. There's very few "veterans" left.

You can't call for a banning of someone just because you don't agree with their point of view. That's not how this works.

      Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs. 
      I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm. 
      I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order. 
      My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

      Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
      Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
      A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.

      I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
      Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

      Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
      I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
