Depends on the person and how they change their relationship with food, their discipline in working out and how well they stick to the program.

For me, NOT accurate at all!

Less than a year after gastric sleeve I went from almost 300 lbs to 115. Been maintaining 120 +/- 2 lbs for over 4 1/2 years. That link says that I'd only get to 180 lbs, lol!

It is not precise but it is realistic for most people. Most people never get to goal or a normal BMI. Most obese people just get less obese.

i exceed what that calc said for me, but if I ate the way most bariatric patients eat. I would have stopped losing weight where they said I would.

The stricter you are in the beginning and the longer you stay strict, the better the results.

I'm 5'2 and at my heaviest was 272lbs. I was 259lbs when starting the process. 248 at day of surgery and after 6 months i think i was down to about 175-178. I'm almost 11 months out and am at 153lbs. Kind of just want to see how low my body will/can go before it takes too much effort to lose a pound lol.

The people who don't reach goal are not changing bad habits. If one focuses on lean, dense Protein first, then non-starchy veggies, no 'white' carbs and only fruit on rare occasions, calorie free liquids, stopping at the 1st sign of full, no liquids 1/2 hr before/after eating and regular exercise, it works. Very difficult to eat too much that way.

Took years of trial & error, because maintenance is harder than losing. focusing on the basics from the beginning makes it so much easier! I did find, as well, that eating fat helps me lose/maintain and veggies WITH my protein, somehow makes it a slider. Go figure, but hey, it works! I stay full/satisfied longer with far fewer cravings, also. I don't even count calories.

It's not easy, but if one stops just one bad habit at a time, it's more manageable.

Thank you ladies for sharing. I'm almost 8 weeks post op. Day of surgery was 249 and now 222. I have PCOS and thyroid issues. Just had thyroid removed last week. Weight is coming off super slow but it's coming off.

Hi! I'm 5'2.5" and 63 years old. When I met my primary care physician in September 2016, I weighed 272 lbs. I met with my surgeon in October. I had my sleeve surgery May 3, 2017 and weighed 254. I was so worried that I wasn't going to lose much weight because of my age. At first, I didn't think I was losing fast enough, but then I really started doing well. This morning, when I got on the scale, it said I weighed 199.6!!!!! I have not weighed in the 100's since I don't remember when. I am so happy I did this. I feel so much better Healthwise and I am off most medications. I also have hypothyroidism.

Are you following your post op plan? If so you shouldn't need a restart. If not that's probably why you aren't losing weight.

Did you follow all the directions? I stop loosing because I was eating so little when I began to eat more I began to loose. Hope you do better!

I'm 5.4 3/4 and I am 6 mo. And a 9 days post op. Before surgery I was 240, after my 3 day liver shrinking diet I was 232 on surgery day. My goal was 160, I'm at 155-157 now and seem to be "stuck" there......

Hello, I'm 5'6. I had my sleeve surgery 9/26/17. I feel like the weight is just falling off at this point. I'm still on liquid diet and trying to get Protein down, it's a struggle. I'm not hungry and my stomach get mad at me at times, I really need to remember to sip all my liquids. Very slowly.....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
