Hi all!

I am kind of frustrated and looking for feedback on my weight loss progress. I had my surgery June 16th and I am about one month post-op. I have been eating between 500-600 calories and working out 5-6 times a week since a week and a half after surgery. I have not been super diligent with Water, however, on most days I meet my Protein goal. I have only lost 16lbs since my surgery. This scares me because if it is moving slowly now, I am scared it will even get worse as time goes on. Any suggestions on changes I should make?

Thank you!

You've lost 16 pounds in about a month. That isn't slow at all. To put it in perspective, I weighed 400 pounds when I started my journey, and I believe that I lost 15 pounds that first month. Everything about this journey is a marathon, not a sprint.

My only thought is that you are pushing your body to far. I wasn't cleared for working out more than going for a walk until 4-6 weeks after surgery.

I wondered the same thing too. My doctor told me at 1.5 weeks I needed to workout 1 hour a day everyday. So I have been.

Thank you for sharing that with me...a little discouraging when I hear people losing 25-30lbs in their first month l.

Seriously! What did they mean by working out. When I had my 3 month checkin they told me a couple times a week max! Guess every doctor is different.
Also, I agree with previous post..16lbs in a month is awesome. Besides, you really don't want it coming off too quickly. Your body needs time to adjust and so does your skin.

Your losses will become slower as time passes. That's the natural progression of things.

As an aside, I lost 15 pounds during my first month with the sleeve. Thereafter, I lost at the rate of a whopping 6 pounds a month. Yep, you read it correctly: 6 pounds a month!

However, I'm not sweating it. The long term result (maintaining our goal weight) is far more important than losing like a house on fire during the weight loss phase. The important part is I lost 100+ pounds, attained my goal weight and have been keeping it off.

Good luck to you. :)

Yes, everyones journey is different. Ive only lost 33 lbs. since surgery on 3/31/17. Slow loss is better than no loss. I am now in onederland, can fit in my daughters size 14 jeans, and no longer take medication for hbp. Keep pushing and following your doctors plan and youll be just fine.

I know the feeling!! I am a month out and I'm not where I thought I'd be. But coming on here and reading other people's stories really helped. You have lost 16lbs and that's amazing!! Don't be hard on yourself!!

I've only lost so much by catching a horrible infection and feeling in constant hell for weeks, so it's nothing to envy, trust me!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
