Hey You Guys, quick question!

This upcoming week is my fifth nutritionist appointment meaning I only will have one left for the 6th (July). Throughout this whole process I have lost a little weight but gained it all back, I'm at the same weight I started out with. I'm nervous and paranoid my insurance won't approve me for my sleeve.

It would be great to hear some comments or advice, please : /

It really depends on your insurance company. The insurance company I had at the time I was sleeved was more lenient than most.

I qualified for the sleeve at exactly 200 pounds. Approximately two weeks before my surgery date I was up to 225 pounds. Yep, I gained 25 pounds in six months due to inability to control my eating plus food funerals (eating my favorite foods one last time before saying "goodbye").

The surgery still happened, and 2+ years later, I have no regrets about the process. I feel a sense of control with my eating that has eluded me for my entire adult life.

Oh okay, well YAY that's awesome you still had your surgery and I'm guessing you lost a ton. Sorry ! I forgot to mention I have the empire plan which is like united healthcare bcbs.

At my 4th appointment I had gained 3lbs from the 3rd appointment. You would have thought I kicked her kitten. I got a lecture and the "so disappointed" talk and she is making me come in again in 2 weeks for an additional visit to make sure I am mentally ready to start a new life style diet. [emoji42]. Or maybe she has a crush on me who knows. I did go ahead and schedule both my 5th and 6th appointments so hopefully early July will be submitting to insurance and fingers crossed, surgery a short time after. Looking like no food funerals for me. [emoji26]

Someone on our hospital's closed FB group got denied because she gained weight on her last visit before requesting approval, but I believe she was on our state insurance plan. The responses indicated that it had happened before, but some were successful with their appeals.

(This may sound strange, but I have the opposite fear. I've lost 30 lbs in 3 months and I'm afraid they'll deny me because I am losing it on my own, though the program coordinator has assured me she's never seen that happen...and my BMI is still 49 so it's not like the surgery won't help me.)

It depends on the insurance...I would really keep trying to lose weight.

I know all insurance plans are different but when I first scheduled my surgery, I said I was worried about losing / gaining weight and the manager of the department that works on insurance approvals said that she is asked that constantly but it has never been an issue.

Also, when I met with my doctor initially I was exercising like a lunatic and eating very little as I was coming off a 10 day Water fast (just a small part of my life of yo yo dieting). Anyway, I had managed to lose about 30 lbs. From my first appt. in December to now I gained it all back. Shameful to admit :(. I was just approved Friday (and scheduled for 6/9) and they confirmed my weight (even congratulated me on how good I did fully knowing I gained weight). Odd but happy I am approved.

Of course it is best to lose weight and following the nutritionist guidelines or goals but I feel like I just have to be realistic with myself as well. Sometimes I feel like I could eat air and still gain weight. It is hard! Hopefully you will be okay! Not sure if any of this helps but best of luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
