Help to re find the rhythm of weight loss ?

Recommended Posts

I am 44, lost about 70 lbs and have gained 30 back. I feel embarrassed to have lost control of it all. I hate the feeling of keeping to go up a size. ( life is as beautiful when it was the opposite) Any suggestions on getting Back on track? Has anyone one had success with re finding their way back to weight loss?

I certainly understand the struggle. I would love to find my motivation to lose weight again. I am 180 and I definitely felt better around 160-165. My best suggestion is to fall in love with exercise or a particular workout. Mine is Jillian Michaels, Beachbody's Insanity and Hammer and Chisel. You just need to find what works best for you. I wish my cravings didn't return with a vengeance and I wish I didn't snack so much because I feel that is the single most thing sabotaging EVERYTHING. But I have what I have to work with. Hang in there and have fun exploring different ways to motivate your body to move! :-)

I'm in the same boat... Trying to find my way back on the wagon. I'm interested in trying to reset my pouch to see if that helps.. lost 115 and have regained about 25. Hoping to find anyone who has tried the reset.

Need help getting back on track as well. I started out awesome and I've only list 72 pounds in 9 months. I was going to the gym at least 3 times a week. One of my problems is that I commute to and from work over 140 miles a day. So it's so easy to make excuses on why I can't get to the gym. But one of the things I've noticed is that I'm ratting more than 4oz at a time. How do I reset my pouch. I've done so well that I need to think of me again. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Resetting your pouch is a fad diet and is not something that is recommended. Instead, you need to focus on the basics:

1. Eat dense Protein first followed by non-starchy vegetables

2. Limit snacking

3. Don't drink your calories

4. Don't drink during meals (stop 30 mins before and 30-60 after)

5. Use an app like MyFitnessPal (or journal) to track everything you eat in a day to monitor total calories consumed

6. Make sure you're drinking at least 64 oz of Water a day

7. Don't eat slider foods and if you're eating sweets, stop, go cold turkey so you can end the cravings; it may be difficult but stay the course and it'll get better

Good luck!

Change your mindset. Think of the challenges as opportunities to grow. Stay AWAY from foods that trigger you. Ultimately, it is the choices you make that keep you from achieving your goals. It is all about your MINDSET.

It was something made up on the Internet to sell products/services. People falsely claim that going back to consuming liquids only for 5 days will shrink your pouch, which is medically impossible.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
