Hello all I am currently 5 weeks post-op rny gastric bypass. I am on the soft foods stage and have been doing pretty well. I measure my food and try to eat about 2 ounces at a time. This weekend I was at a barbeque and they are shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were very small, but as I was cooking a chatting I noticed I ate about 8 ounces of shrimp. I was not uncomfortable or anything just worried. I am never able to consume this much. Any ideas?

The nerves in your stomach may not have healed back from surgery, which means you wouldn't have full feeling yet. This is also means you couldn't accidentally hurt your still-healing stomach. I would just move past it and make sure you don't do anything like it again. [emoji4]

Thank you, I do get full of other Proteins, I am so surprised I was able to fit so much. Could it be because they were so soft?

I'd say so. Soft stuff, well chewed seems to slide through a sleeve..guess it does a pouch as well. I was about 5 weeks out and shocked when I ate 8 oz of potato Soup. Taught me to measure first :)

I meant to say you "could" accidentally hurt your stomach since your nerves may not be healed enough to let you know when it is too much. Just be super careful. [emoji4]

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
