No to bypass. I'm not a fan of malabsorption surgeries. I know some love them, I'm just not one of those people.

But there's nothing wrong with sixteen pounds a month, silly goose. I hope I'd be able to do that every month for a year, because that's a whopping 192 pounds in 12 months! I'd be at goal by my one year surgiversary.

Why are you expecting to dump weight right away? Especially when you've been pumped full of IV fluids and your body is in a panic? Stick to the plan and chill.

This is new to all of us. Currently, I'm pondering on why I can drink a Protein Shake (11.5 ounces) within an hour when previously (a few days ago) I could only do 2 ounces every half hour. Intellectually I know it's because of the stomach swelling going down, allowing for more room, but losing that extreme restriction makes me a little sad.

So, yeah, I'm a little nutty too.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I think what's most important is what you're filling that new found capacity with! Sounds like you are on the right track.

As we go on, with my experience of searching posts and talking in classes to those who have gone through this, is, as your stomach gets larger, it's more up to you and self-discipline to stick to the habits you intent to keep post-op.

Me, for example, I fully plan on sticking to a 1000-1400 cal diet with very low carbs and high Protein as long as my physical activity remains relatively low. Once the healing is done it's going to entirely require using the knowledge you've received over this span to dictate how your life is henceforth. I think @OutsideMatchInsideand others refer to this as "maintenance".

Maintenance to me, from everything I've read over the years, is life after goal. Maintaining that weight loss.

Now, and hopefully in the future, I'll stick to my high protein-low carb, too. This is the only plan I've done for the last seventeen years, allowing me to lose a hundred pounds a few times, but hopefully this time I can keep it off and keep going.

Right now my carbs are below ten, but once I'm healed, I'll probably stick to 20 net a day. If you can do that, there's no need to count calories. The higher the fat the better for the brain and body, too. I think people call it a Keto diet, but Atkins has been preaching this for four decades. I love low carb, but now with this restriction, it's even better. I can see why they call this the honeymoon period, and I suspect I too will miss this once the swelling goes fully down and I'm left with my new normal size stomach which holds six ounces--which is still miles better than what I had.

This surgery was the best thing I've ever done for myself!

The first time I ate an egg, I think I did three tiny bites and today I think I'm eating half to 3/4's of it. Maybe I can do more, but I'm still feeling around to what 'full' feels like.

I'm glad you all able to eat I still can't get Fluid in my been nausea and vomiting I been to ER I have follow up with my surgeon 3 to 5 days and primary care also 3 to 5 days so I pray I get much better soon

It will get better just keep doing what you doing and try walk more

I have no idea though how a poster was on their liquid phase and getting under 10 (was it?) grams of carbs a day. Pretty much everything I ate from unsweetened apple sauce to yogurt drink to milk was all over that in one serving.

But, I'm back on high Protein foods w/soft solids so happy I can cut that stuff out.

I was only on a liquid diet for 24 hours, then moved to puréed food, cheese, and eggs by the second day.

A typical day is 2 Protein Shakes a day, which is 2 carbs total. A half an egg, which is 0 carbs. A stick of vermont sharp cheddar cheese is 1 carb. A quarter cup of triple zero vanilla nonfat Greek yogurt is 2.5. This is what I had today, plus 70 oz of Water. It feels like a job, but today is the first time I met both my liquid and Protein goals.

So for today, 5.5 carbs--556 calories. Some days I'll drink a half of cup of fairlife milk, but not today ;-)

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
