No one in Nov?

Recommended Posts

Mine didn't hurt at all but my doctor numbed me first with a couple of tiny pricks (which I could barely feel) of lidocaine. The needle is very long but I think it is small in diameter. When I removed the little round bandaid later, there wasn't even a mark underneath it. Apparently some doctors use a spray that numbs the skin.

Good luck!

My fill didn't hurt too bad. They did not numb it at all. The needle hurt for a few seconds and then there was no pain. She had to stick me 3 times to find the port. It wasn't bad at all.

I have now had two fills, the first one was a breeze I don't use the lidocane. This last one however was a little tought to get through. She found the port just fine but had a hard time getting the needle to go through the port, she had to push quite hard which made me really uncomfortable because I was worried she might push through the port. It didn't necessarily hurt but it really stressed me out, I hope the next one is nothing like this last one..it was a test on my nerves.

My next fill will be on Jan 24 and I am glad it is eary in the morning so I won't get hungry before I have to go..After this last fill I am definiatly feeling fuller faster but I am not satisfied with anything I eat..I think that now I have to start looking into why I don't feel satisfied, I think there is an underlying reason why I ate so much..now I just have to figure out what that is..

Today I also tried on some of the clothes I wore during the summer on the cruise I went on and now the fit beautifully, nothing is tight like it was and a couple skirts fell right off when I put them on..YEAH!! Times like this makes it all worth it..my latest food favorite is Fire Roasted Tomatoe Soup at Paradise Bakery, I get the cup and usually I am full about half way through so I am glad to not be as hungry as I have been!!

Hope you all are doing great!! :whoo:

I was banded Nov 20th and had my first fill 1 week later.

My next fill is Jan 8th and I can't wait. I am hungry a lot in the afternoons and sometimes get headaches.

I also started at 212 and find the weight loss has been slow. I am down to 192 after 6 weeks.

I am hoping this next fill helps with the hunger.

Sades,

I hear you, I also can eat anything and am having problems staying away from the sweets.

Fortunatly I walk an hour everyday and that is helping me not gain any weight.

I have been thinking I am alone in the slow weight loss department. I see by the posts that I am not. I had my first fill on 12/13/07 and have lost only 5 lbs. My first fill was a hefty one of 4cc's. I just went in and they put another 1cc in. I am holding steady but have problems losing. I hurt my back which doesn't help as it is limiting my mobility. Does any of the people who have been banded have any wisdom on this?:help:

Holy Moly. I'm right there with you. But, you should really be excited! You've lost 29 pounds and that's awesome!

What I say is, go slow....that way you won't have a bunch of yucky skin hanging down around your ankles in 4 months. The slower the weight loss, the more opportunity your skin has to respond. Plus, this isn't like other diets. We KNOW that over time this WILL work, so we don't need to feel the hopelessness that we're used to. We just have to listen to our bodies and work with the doctors and find our sweet spots! So, chin up!

I've definitely had to keep mine up!

I was down to 215 by the time I went in for my post-op appointment on 11/16. Since then, I have been hovering between 209.8 and 215. Just when I'm back at 209, I'll weigh myself and be back to 215. Frustrating!!!! I have even had a fill already, and with a 10cc band, 3cc doesn't feel l like ANYTHING! I find myself wondering if there's even a band around my stomach at all!

My next fill is this Friday....

That is good advice. I just get scared because of the other times I've failed. I go to support group and see the BPD and the Rue-en-y people losing a 100 lbs in 6 mths. It is hard. I am eating about 1,000 calories a day and losing nothing. I understand what you are going through as I keep bouncing back and forth between the same 2 lbs! I go back in two weeks for a check up. 3 cc's wouldn't have done anything for me. I have 5cc's and can't lose weight. Here is to hitting the sweet spot!

I can tell you one thing: I've SEEN those girls in person who lose 100lbs in 6 months....and I don't care what the scale says, cuz it just AIN'T THAT PRETTY!!!! Plus, you always have to remember....they said we would lose all the weight within 18-24 months. If you want to lose 155 lbs, that's only 6.5 lbs per month until 11/09.....BABY, You're AHEAD of the game!

So, again I say: AWESOME!!!!!

Hi all...

Been a few weeks since I have been on here. I have been keeping myself busy. I have to say how excited I was when I went in for my first fill on Monday and I found out I had lost 6 lbs in the last 6 weeks. Now I know it is only about 1lb a week but that was before my first fill and it was over the Holidays too!

Ok, so I had the first fill on the 9th. THAT was a weird experience, let me tell you. There wasn't any pain involved except for the numbing shot of lydocaine. That was a real JOY to experience!! Sheesh!! I will say this, however: getting the actual FILL is a very strange feeling. I liken it to when my son started kicking me in utero. You don't feel any pain, per se, but you feel this weird pushing, digging around, moving feeling. Then, when he began to push the saline through, I could actually feel a weird little twinge in the band area itself. What hurt more than anything, though, was the saline needle injection site. That hurt later in the evening and was a little bit bruised. I bruise like a summer peach, however, so that's not surprising. I can definitely feel more restriction now. I've actually lost 1 lb since the adjustment - likely because of having to do fluids and purees for that first 24-48 hours afterward. All in all, it was not a bad experience. Fingers crossed now that I'll start losing again - but not too quickly. I don't want to have all of that hanging flesh that comes from losing weight too fast. High 5's to all!!!!! WOOHOO!!!

I had my fourth fill last Wed. the 9th. I'm at 7.0 in my AP 10 cc band. I'm up for my fifth next Thurs. the 17th. I think I am almost there. I appreciate the fact that NWWLS in Everett WA has a proactive fill schedule. I go in every week until I hit the spot. Head hunger is still there but actual hunger isn't. If I wait too long to eat, I eat too fast and I've saved myself about 7 times with my pineapple juice. It hurts like hell to get close to PBing. I've never actually thrown up however. I guess I am just a slow learner.

Take care all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
