  1. Hi Newbie! Welcome to Dayton. I am a transplant from elsewhere too! I had Lapband surgery through Miami Valley Hospital and Dr. Donovan Teel's office in Nov 2007. Since then 3 of my friends have had Lapband surgery with Dr. Teel (937-208-5300). I know he does a fair amount of self-pay patients. It is a tough decision to make.
  2. That is good advice. I just get scared because of the other times I've failed. I go to support group and see the BPD and the Rue-en-y people losing a 100 lbs in 6 mths. It is hard. I am eating about 1,000 calories a day and losing nothing. I understand what you are going through as I keep bouncing back and forth between the same 2 lbs! I go back in two weeks for a check up. 3 cc's wouldn't have done anything for me. I have 5cc's and can't lose weight. Here is to hitting the sweet spot!
  3. I have been thinking I am alone in the slow weight loss department. I see by the posts that I am not. I had my first fill on 12/13/07 and have lost only 5 lbs. My first fill was a hefty one of 4cc's. I just went in and they put another 1cc in. I am holding steady but have problems losing. I hurt my back which doesn't help as it is limiting my mobility. Does any of the people who have been banded have any wisdom on this?:help:
  4. Maybe it is just the cold weather. Maybe I am not getting enough water.
  5. I used to have oily skin. I was banded a month ago and now I have dry skin. Has this happened to anyone else? Does it get better?
  6. I am having the same problem. I was banded 11/13/07 and will get my first fill this thurs. I am able to eat whatever I want. I also am trying to take it easy. I am so scared I will gain. I am remaining the same weight for now. I hope the first fill helps. It's all so new to us Nov. bandsters. I guess we need some of the wiser bandsters to reply. just know you are not alone.
  7. does your port ever hurt? I sleep on my stomach and can't. Getting in and out of a car can be uncomfortable. Stretching, I can feel a pull. Any advice?
  8. :help:How long does it take until you can't feel your port anymore? Everytime I bend over I feel the port dig into me. Certain motions have become uncomfortable. I go for my first fill on 12/13/07. I can pretty much eat anything I want so I am happy about the fill. The whole port thing really upsets me. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
  9. Lindseyann2u, thanks for the info. With any luck then there will be some relief when I get my first fill 12/13/07. Now I can eat whatever I want. I am hiding in my office as co-workers have donuts out for the office.:faint:
  10. Lindata, thanks for the tip. I seem no to be losing weight, only holding my current weight pending my first fill. I am eating very little. I really hope that the first fill makes a difference.
  11. My first fill is 12/13/07. I am nervous, but what a way to start the New Year! Does anyone know how long it takes before you don't feel your port? I sleep on my stomach but can't due to the discomfort of the port.
  12. Who is your doctor? I was also banded the same day in Dayton. Where you at MVH or Kettering?
  13. How is it going? We got through the tough part! Can you feel your port? That is what freaks me out? I wonder when I can lay on my stomach again. Bending over, I feel I have to get over my port to get to my shoes!
  14. Took me several days after surgery. Still not producing a lot. Maybe because we are not eating a lot. May want to call your docotr and check.
