My pre-op diet was two weeks and it was 100% liquids, no solids no meat nothing...and I took great pride in making it through that entire program without cheating once. It put me in just the right mental place to handle life after surgery. This prep isn't just for a good, smooth surgery and recovery...it's for your mind, too. It's a commitment that you're making to change. Embrace it! There's a time limit on it, and then after surgery you will not care anymore.

I agree! It was tough, and other sleeves/ bypassers that I knew told me about their cheating! I knew this was a mental test and not just a physical necessity pre op.... And you know what? I did not cheat and luckily haven't had any adverse post op complications. In 3 days (but who is counting) I will be 4weeks post op and 6 weeks post solids, and I can not wait to introduce solids again...i think I earned it!

You can do it. The first few days are difficult and it gets better. Make sure you drink plenty of Water to make yourself full. If you find yourself having to go to the bathroom room right after tell your surgeon. You may be sensitive to the lactose.

I'm 4 days away from surgery and have been on the 2 Protein drinks, 4 oz Protein, 2 cups veggies and 1 cup fruit since the 10th. Not bad at first, but the last 2 days I have been really hungry and using sugar free Jello to help. For the last 3 days, I have had a headache. Hope it gets better after surgery.

It will get better. I did cheat but increasing my Protein from 4oz to maybe 6oz a few times. I was feeling dizzy every night which is not good when caring for a toddler. I decided to increase Water instead.. still a bit dizzy but it's now been just over 2 weeks and I'm down 12lbs.. totally worth the struggle.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
