Yes, I know what you mean. I am going to start to gauge what amount triggers that.

Hi I was sleeved 9/22 so I am almost a month out and I have lost 21 lbs since surgery. Still a little sore under my left rib, but I wear a light compression support belt. That helps. I am trying new foods and find that eating is not so eventful when you can only take a few bites. post-301099-14767978938348_thumb.jpg post-301099-14767979162111_thumb.jpg

@@lizardqueen I feel pressure where my esophagus is - it's always 1 bite too many when that happens

That is also my first sign. If a small burp doesn't move it. It's definitely time for me to stop. I also get a runny nose.

Hi everyone! I was sleeved 9/26. Had lost 14lbs that first week and NOTHING since. The last couple of weeks have been hard as there was a death in the family that meant we had to travel out of state - and stay with family I had not told about my surgery. So I'm wondering if it's a normal adjustment or if trying to work with what they provided killed my potential. How are you all doing?

What have you been eating, and how has your Protein been? I was sleeved 9/15 and just hit the 40lb mark but I am 5'10 so it's obviously coming off me faster than others. If you're following your plan I think it's way too early to be concerned.

Great job on 40 lbs gone!

Since I haven't had much control over what food is available , I've done my best trying low sugar premade Protein shakes from the corner stores and cutting skin off of fried chicken etc. It was nearly impossible to track, so I opted not to drive myself insane. I'm doing my best to get back into a grove now that we're home. I'm hoping the scale will start moving soon!

Thank you! I'm sure once you get home and can break the bad vaca habits you'll do better. Just be very careful not to spring a leak! I just tried chicken today. Protein Bars, string cheese, etc. are your friends when you don't know what food is available.

Hey September Sleevers just checking in. It's great to see updates from everyone. I was sleeve on 9/29 and thankfully have had a very smooth few weeks. I even went back to work on my 5th day post op I felt so well. Glad to report I am 42# down since start of my pre-op diet 09/19 and 28# since surgery. I'm on soft foods for another week and then I will hopefully get cleared to start on normal foods. I look forward to seeing everyone's continued progress.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
