Coffee... It's My One True Love

  • Popular Post

(Besides my gf, of course)

But seriously, I am coffee snob. I have the molecular diagram of caffeine tattooed on my arm, I have a dozen different machines/gadgets to make the sweet bean juice, and I roast my own.

I take my coffee very seriously. Obviously I can't be slurping it down like a mad man during the first few weeks post-surgery because I need to stay hydrated (caffeine isn't exactly conducive to that), but how soon did you guys start swilling the go-go juice again?

Have you been to Abdibo on Midlothian? Roasted Beans on site, delicious brews.

That's my go to store for lattes and beans when I'm out of my home roasted. They are phenomenal and only about 5 minutes from my house.

If you're downtown look for Alchemy on Broad near vcu - broad and goshen maybe?

Easily the best preparation and mug in Richmond.

I drink my coffee black. I started the day after I got home with a small (10 oz.) cup. My usual morning cup is 16 oz and not usually just one. My team gave me their blessing because I was meeting both my Protein and Fluid goals. They suggested an additional cup of Water for every cup of coffee, which isn't hard for me to do at three weeks out. Back to my regular consumption.

However, some folks' new tummies do not like coffee. You also may want to try something milder and low acid the first few days so as to not upset your stomach.

I was allowed coffee first day post op, and every day since. Just like I was drinking it pre-op.

Never had any issues with it, at all! Just pure enjoyment :)

The only difference is that I no longer use Equal sweetener, and substituted Stevia instead.

I drink it with milk, hot or iced.

I love Gloria Jeans Beans, like Black Knight, Caramel, Hazelnut flavoured beans.

In the afternoons I switch to decaf, so I can sleep at night.

Oh, and I often drink through a straw, lol

So, if you don't get acid reflux with drinking coffee, and having it white/with milk makes it less acidic, then enjoy your true love ...... :D

Yes! I cannot blaspheme the bean.

And anyone who offers me a Geisha, that person just bought themselves a devotee, a disciple, a worshipper

My husband and I had coffee within two weeks. We only drink it in the winter, but he drank a pot a day. He has lost 100 lbs and is super healthy.

Had to wait 8 weeks until caffeine. Had some decaf had started to wean from caffeine a couple of months pre-op. It was almost as sad as leaving my best friends red wine and Perrier.

At least Java came back to me and so far no issues having caffeinated coffee back in my life.
