I just got approval this afternoon. Thought my surgery would be in November.. but found out my date is on HALLOWEEN!!! Holy Crapcake!! Tomorrow, I begin my liquid pre-op diet. I am a wreck! I am terrified.

Please, anyone who's had their sleeve done within the past few weeks.. speak to me. Tell me how you did right after surgery. How was recovery? How was the pain? Did you take GasX strips? How are you now? Should I wear a costume to the operating room? (just kidding about the last question)

My surgeon is Marc Bessler ... did anyone have him as their surgeon?

I understand your fears and anxiety. I felt the same way and was really emotional leading up to the surgery. I'm now 3 weeks post op and have recovered really well. I had manageable pain levels the day after surgery, mostly from gas and was mostly pain free 2 days post op. Your tummy doesn't actually hurt which I found strange. It's more of an indigestion or heartburn feeling.

I did really well with taking in liquids and purées and I'm now in the soft foods stage and doing fine with that also. I know everyone is different so I can only speak for myself but it was so much easier than I thought it would be.

Good luck. Try not to think about it too much. You'll be fine.

I'm anxiously nervous. Having the sleeve on October 24th. Trying not to think about the first weeks but how happy I'll be and feel by the first of the year. Looking forward to a great 2017.

I am scheduled for HALLOWEEN too!!! Your costume will consist of a patient gown, no undies, an IV and a hair bonnet. The best costume EVER!!!

I had rny, sure it will be different for you. My pain sucked, but I knew it would going in. By 7 days out I was feeling much more like myself. No meds and no pain. You can do this.

Hello everyone,

I was sleeved on October 20th. I'm starting my 3rd day post-op, and feeling pretty good overall. I had a some nausea in the first 24 hours (especially during the 2 hour drive home from the hospital--miserable). I slept most of the following day and the next, but started feeling better by mid day on Saturday. I'm drinking as much Water and broth as I can get down and hoping to take a walk later today to get the blood flowing again.

Good luck to anyone who's still waiting to have their surgery this month. You'll do great!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
