Today begins my two week liquid diet. I was excited until I woke up this morning hungry lol! I'm going to do my best to stick to the program and not cheat. My liver really needs to shrink because I am a revision (band to sleeve) patient and my liver and stomach are stuck together from scar tissue... I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I'm hoping for the best!

You can do this! I'm on day 10 of my pre op diet and if I can get through this without a "cheat", you sure can! I also a revision patient.

Just keep reminding yourself that it's not worth it.

You want to set yourself up for success and you don't succeed if you start out by finding ways to sneak around the rules. It hasn't been easy, but when my stomach is growling, I remember why I am doing it. Drinking lots of extra fluids help fool an empty stomach too.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

My surgery date is October 20th. I'm about to start the 3rd week of my 4-week pre-op diet, consisting of Medifast/Fast-Track/Proti powdered food and 1 Protein Bar per day (ends up to be about 750 cal. /day).... It's been rough, and I can't say I haven't cheated a few times, but I'm moving forward!

I was scheduled to have Lap-Band surgery in 2010, but backed out. Glad I did, honestly. I have been lurking here for the past 2-3 months soaking up as much advice and wisdom as I can by reading and searching the forums.

Good luck all!

thank you @!

Yes, that's what I'm focusing on...the end result. I've already awakened once "sleeveless" because the surgeon felt my scar tissue was too excessive to get around. He told me to wait a year or two for new techniques to become available. I was beyond devastated!

So, this go round will be by the "book" to the best of my ability...

Thanks for the good wishes. Heading to get my Protein Shake now :)

@@ElleJ I too had adhesions. I prayed everyday on my pre op! You can do it! Lots of fluids!

@@bkskinny, omg! I never thought I would wake up sleeveless... I was heartbroken and depressed for weeks. My best friend found my new surgeon. He is 100% comfy with dealing with adhesions and said if he needs to he will take them down. He is also a liver specialist, so if there are any issues with my liver he showing be able to handle it ( him and God, that is).

I will take your advice- lots of fluids!

Thank you :)

@@ElleJ Yes! My surgeon said that the adhesions were not as bad as the previous surgeon said...he said that he didn't know why he could not complete my sleeve. I was so depressed. I felt like a failure, and was down because of the fusions that the scar tissue caused. My surgeon was able to get most of the scar tissue out. I am tremendously grateful for him.

Well October sleevers I am part of the losers club! Dr Liza Pompa Gonzales of limarp in Tijuana couldn't have asked for a more fantastic experience. The gas is something else but after that I feel great. Leak test showed no leaks so it is on to learning how to hydrate. Best of luck to Amberb1979 today !

Congratulations! I'm not looking forward to the gas pain, but it's just part of the process. Wishing you much success on your journey!

5 days post op, have walked a lot since the evening of the surgery, minimal gas pain, tolerating liquids, incisions healing nicely and 31 lbs down since I started the liquid diet on 9/22. Coconut Water and lots of walking for that horrible post op gas.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
