I like to have a piece of candy on occasion, my favorite being the mini laffy taffy, sour skittles, star burst minis --- Ofcourse I wouldn't get them all in one sitting but I'm curious if anyone has tried them. I wonder if our stomachs can tolerate the chewy gummy candies . Let me know your experience.

lol, are you serious? I honestly am curious if this is a prank topic. I can't think of anything that would cause dumping faster than those particular candies. If you are seriously asking, sorry I can't help you. If you are pranking, good one!

I have never been a candy person. Not really a sweets person, but when I do like sweets it is baked goods.

I think before 6 months it will make you dump and you aren't fully healed, but I don't even know about the textures of those things. I wouldn't chance them getting stuck or something.

I honestly doubt they are worth the risk. If you want sweets, there are safer options, even cake would be better than straight candy just because at least it has some Fiber.

You are fresh from surgery and not eating yet, so you are probably just dreaming about food and imagining all the things you will never be able to have.

I have to say that the longer you stick to your plan, the less likely you are to even want those kinds of things. I am thinking about my favorite dessert right now and I have no desire or emotions for it. However, I do have Halo top ice cream and eatmeguiltfree Protein brownies. They fill any of those desires and they also have protein and fit my plan.

If you stick to your plan (and I am not saying that you aren't), you really reprogram your mind and your tastes.

When I first had surgery and pre-op I never thought I would have anything "good" and that food would always be a chore and never a pleasure. I can tell you that 6 days shy of a year that is not the case at all. I eat lots of delicious things, that fit my program, in small amounts and I actually enjoy food now more than before.

Don't think about candy, take a walk. You will make yourself nuts.

I'm not thinking of trying anything anytime soon , I was thinking in the future 6months + out. I lost 40 lbs before my sleeve and loved having a mini laffy taffy on occasion since I'm not a junk food kind of person. I take gummy vitamins and tolerate it fine. Hoping I can in the future, again not any time soon.

The laffy taffy and the starbursts, I haven't had any in about 25 plus years but I think the texture might be something you won't want. The skittles I am sure you can have long term.

Again 6 months from now you might be WTF at this post yourself. Just because you might not ever want candy again.

I am always baffled that they give WLS patients all these sweet chewable type Vitamins that taste like candy and expect people to not want sugar. chewable vitamins and having to stomach their nasty sweet taste along with sweet Protein shakes all the time was terrible. Can you tell I really don't like sweets? And that wasn't a post-op thing. I have always been a savory type person. I will always take steak over cake.

I occasionally have a piece of chocolate or a few tic tacos. Haven't tried skittles or laffy taffy. My thought is if they don't trigger you to over eat then once you're at goal, every once in a while wouldn't hurt.

Hahaha right?! I don't get it either, my Protein drinks make me gag now I have to plug my nose to drink it down. My saving grace is tomatoe Soup. My vitamins don't make me want candy ... It's crazy to me not having an appitite. Such a weird feeling.

Sorry if you think that was rude, I was not trying. I seriously thought you were making a joke post. There are a slew of topics going on right now about inappropriate foods right after surgery. I thought this might have been posted in satire.

Back to your question though. Sure, you can eat those candies. Yes your stomach will eventually be able to tolerate the chewy gummy sticky sugary crap. It will also be able to tolerate fatty meats and starchy carbs. But the question you should be asking is why would you want those things after enduring everything up to this point? Also, is this a question you would be comfortable asking your surgeon?

I'm 6 months out and on occasion have a piece of candy here and there with no issues. I'm not a laffy taffy person but I've had salt Water taffy. No dumping episodes, again it was only a piece or two.
