Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Had mine on the 27th and like I've already said my pain is very tolerable. Just got done walking around the house for 20 minutes. I try to do that at least every hour to an hour and a half. But I'm still struggling to get all my Water down. My pee was pretty dark this morning and I know that's not a good sign. Any tips on how to get it down? It doesn't hurt when I swallow it but I'm just so terrified of drinking too much at once and making myself get sick. Also Protein water, how much protein is everyone supposed to be getting at this point? My doctor said at least 15ml and I don't think I'm getting enough of that either.

I started noticing water was easier to get down on day 4. I am on day 7 and caught myself taking a swig but it went down. I could feel it but no pain. I am supposed to get between 40 and 60 grams of protien and 60 ozs of funds for 1st 2 weeks.

Just sip sip sip. You do not want to get dehydrated. You can do it.

Are you allowed to have Protein Shakes or are you just drinking the protein water?

I am doing protien shakes. Premier has 30 grams of protien so I have 2 a day. I also have some EAS brand and they are good and not quite as thick. Both of those are 11 oz. The protien waters I have don't give as much bang for the buck.

I had mine on the 21st and yesterday (Day 8 post-op) was the first day I didn't have pain every single time I swallowed anything...if you can drink without pain, you just need to sip sip sip sip sip as often as possible. I was always a water gulper so it's been a tough adjustment, but I've learned what an okay size is for a sip of water and I don't want to feel that pain so it's been fairly easy to stick to :) I'm supposed to get as close to 90g protein as I can every day, I'm getting about 60g most days but I think now that the pain is subsiding I'll be able to get more. I had oatmeal for the first time this morning, yay!, and it didn't upset my stomach at all. I'm cooking a potato now to give that a try. Just keep sipping, it's the only way to get all that Fluid in. Good luck!

How far out are you suzzzzz? I have some premier shakes but I'm not allowed to drink the shakes yet only Protein Water.< /p>

I went home on full liquids, tried the shakes and took myself back to clear Isopure for a day. What kind of protein water are you drinking? I did pretty well with the Isopure, 40g for a bottle and it helped with getting fluids in too. The shakes are definitely heavier and harder on the sleeve, at least they were for me.

I am on day 7 but was told to start protien shakes on day 2. I did not have any problems. Just sipped slowly.

I'm drinking the Atkins lift protein waters. They have 20grams a bottle.

Hello all. Just had my first post op appointment. I have to say today is the first day I feel back to normal. I've been cleared to go back to work tomorrow! Also things taste good again. My dietician told me about GENEPRO by Musclegen Research. It's completely tasteless and instantly dissolves in liquid or you can put in anything... 30 grams of Protein per tablespoon!! I can't wait to try it! It will make protein goals so much easier. I was where some of you are now and I promise it gets better. This will be worth it!! Take care everyone.

I use gene pro and like it. I am a super picky eater but it doesn't bother me. I have added it to broth (warm, not hot) and also to a cup of cold unsweetened tea. With the tea, I could tell a little bit of powderiness to it but it didn't affect the flavor. I don't know if it's 30 grams--I was thinking its 20--but it is only one tablespoon which is pretty easy to mix in.

Well, I'm less than two weeks post-op, and I walked for an hour. I got 2.6 miles under my belt. It felt good, but I had a few stomach spasms afterwards. One more week, and I move on to puréed foods! Everyone, keep at it. It gets easier as you go.

Has anyone out there that has gotten the procedure had heightened emotions since? Literally everything gets to me and I cry. I cry bc I'm cold...bc I'm alone at home, because I feel like I'm not fun anymore and can't do fun things with my fiancée anymore right now....I'm just an absolute mess.

Only in the sense that I am excited the surgery is behind me, I am thrilled for what the future holds, and I can't wait to have a new fun wardrobe.

Don't focus on what you can't do. Remember why you had the surgery. Write down or say three things everyday you are grateful for. Gratitude helps change feeling down. Just try it.

I did, especially around the time Shark week started. I felt unhinged for a few days there. It will pass. Try not to make big decisions right now.

I am 4 days post op. I have very little pain. Had to do the dye test 3 times so three times the dye which made me very sick. At first cold hurt but it's getting easier to get down. Popcicles are my friend right now. It seems to be the only thing that does not hurt going down. It's getting easier and I know day by day it will only get easier. I have lost 20 lbs since I started my pre op diet and through surgery. Good luck to you all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
