The great straw debate!

Recommended Posts

Straw question for the straw members ?

Do you prefer a straw with the flexible accordion joint.......or the long thick pipe style straws that come with bucket sized drinks ?

Have you ever tried to work with a little coffee-stirrer sized straw. Did you find it a fun challenge or get frustrated by the effort required vs the tiny reward ?

Do you prefer the straw to fit your vessel or is oversized always better ?

Do you ever chew on your straws ?

These are the things I wonder over this morning's coffee.< /p>

no chewing. oversized is always better. bigger straw = more flavor and it's hard to suck on a skinny little straw which is just frustrating. what's your preference, @@Dub ?

Love it minty and Dub have spluttered coffee all over my desk reading this!

Personally, I think that spitters are quitters.

Personally, I never spit.

Oh. I don't think he would want to have a preference to big or little, fat or skinny straws. He may have an opinion on whether one chews on them or sucks them though....

Ok, I laughed way too hard at the thought of the little spoony thing on the end.

@@CHM with your scientific background can you answer my question if suckers (ex: BLOW pop) are as "dangerous" as using a straw?

It has never made sense to me, and I don't think it make sense to any moderately educated person.

@@PayItForward You do not get wrinkles from sucking... on straws. You get wrinkles from cigarettes because the smoke that is constantly around your face when you smoke makes your skin age faster. It has nothing to do with the act of sucking on anything.

or I'd look like a prune by now... :D

I'm pretty sure Mythbusters proved that it takes a LOT of carbonation and excess liquid (and maybe even some Pop Rocks) to blow up a stomach. #alsoteamstraw #frustratedwithoutone

IF this is a genuine question - as opposed to yet another excuse to suggest...ahem...adult activities - then yes, suckers are as 'dangerous' as straws.

Sucking on anything (yes, yes...) will cause the production of excess saliva, which will in turn cause you to swallow. And as previously discussed, swallowing anything in any way will introduce air into your stomach. Hence a sucker is no different from a straw is no different from a bite of chicken is no different from a sip from a glass of Water. Swallowing = air. Period.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
